Election Recap:

Labor won majorities across all 3 of the regions this weekend within the Regional Legislatures, they held on to Senate seats in Lincoln and Fremont and continue to hold a majority in the Senate. They also took over the House of Representatives and the Presidency to hold full power in the Congress and the Presidency for the first time since the Adam Griffin era. (They may have briefly held it when Blair was President for a bit, I forget).

The Federalists continue to hold on to the Southern Governorship and the two Southern Senate seats, along with 4 seats in the House of Representatives, we will continue to provide coverage on how everything unfolds in the weeks to come!

Labor never held Congress under President Adam Griffin.

Conservatives (Feds+CR) won a majority in August 2015 and held it through the reset.

Last Bore Congress
https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Sixty-Ninth_Senate

Congresses under Adam
https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Seventieth_Senate
https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Seventy-First_Senate

72 and 73 don't have pages unfortunately, but in February 2016 the Senators elected were
South: PiT (F)
Pacific: Dereich (F)
Midwest: Potus (F),
Mideast: Dar (Lab)
Northeast: Blair (Lab)

And April 2016:
Seat 1: Clark (F)
Seat 2: JoMCar (F)
Seat 3: Leinad (F)
Seat 4: CXSmith (Lab)
Seat 5: Truman (Lab)

The Laborite victory in the House in August 2017, was the first left majority in At-Large seats since the April 2015 elections and first laborite majority since Adam beat Foucaulf in the February 2015 special election.

The Laborite control of the Senate achieved in late December 2016/Early January 2017, was the first left majority in the Regional seats since the June 2015 elections and first Laborite majority outright in regional seats since the February 2015 elections (Talleyrand switched to Independent during the term though).

In summary, Conservatives dominated Congress from AT-Large seats (House or At-Large Senate) from Aug 2015 until Aug 2017 and Regional Senate seats from July 2015 (three seats changed hands mid month) until December 2016, which fully encompassed Adam's Presidency.

So when was the last Laborite control of the Presidency and Congress?

Bore from March 2015 until May 2015 when Labor had 6/10 Senate seats and the Presidency. Though since it was a joint ticket with TPP, TPP also held 2 seats and 1 more was a TPP aligned indy, so effectively it could be said to have had 9/10 seats.

Before that it would be DemPGH with five seats and Windjammer breaking the tie.

Labor majority right now: made by Sestak, who was convinced to take Labor by WINDJAMMER

Labor majority in 2017: Labor run by WINDJAMMER

And Labor majority in early 2014: most important election won by WINDJAMMER

The Voter Elibibility Reform Act was introduced in the Senate on October 18th. It proposes to eliminate the requirement of being registered for seven days before the start of an election to be an elegible voter. The 7 day rule has existed for a long time. It helps to avoid a late entry of sudden voters to influence an election outcome from citizens who turn out to be zombie voters.

The voter Eligibility Reform Act could be considered dead. The sponsor did not advocate for it. There is not an sitting Senator sponsoring it now. Nobody posted in the thread. That doesn't stop Morticia Addams of the Zombies are our friends defense group of hoping the bill rises from the dead. "Every citizens should have the right to vote, zombies included. The current law is discrimination from a major group of people in our country. Nothing stops people living who are dead inside from voting".

Zombies have faced voter rules in Atlasia for a long time. We were able to find an Anti-Zombie Act from 2009.

Happy Halloween.

Poirot
Reporting fron Nyman

The 2018 Foreign Relations Review (FRR) has been quickly adopted by the House and the Senate. Secretary of State Lumine gave a summary of the FRR changes at a press conference. They include lifting sanctions on North Korea, establishing sanctions on some Turkish government officials and lowering the full economic embargo on Palestine. Interested readers can look at the press conference here: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=304514.msg6491638#msg6491638

While people at the State Department were satisfied by the adoption of the 2018 FRR by Congress (and no votes cast against), some have noted there were no debates or even comments made by the legislators of the two chambers. This took place after Secretary of State Lumine stated : "FRR has been introduced by President Yankee in the Senate and the House for what I sincerely hope will be a lively, informed and active debate on how certain matters of foreign policy ought to be conducted."

In less than two weeks since his confirmation at the Department of State, Lumine has been busy. In addition to presenting the Foreign Relations review he announced the State Department Building would be named the George Marshall Building and the creation of a Statemen's Gallery inside that building to display the accomplishments of Atlasians in the field of diplomacy.

New session

The newly elected federal officials have sworn in. The House and Senate are voting for Leader and PPT respectively. President Weatherboy has created a White House thread on the government board. https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=305691.0

Outgoing President North Carolina Yankee inducted some citizens to the Order of Atlasia. You can read the full list here: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=295898.msg6505768#msg6505768
In his farewell speech he said the most pressing thing facing the country is the decline in actula debate and the passive playing is detrimental to the game in the long run.

Poirot
Reporting from Nyman

The Registration Office has received many irregular requests. The Registrar General has received a request qith a citizen's name that does not macth the sender. The RG also received a few photocopies of the same request sent by other people. In the past people respected the seriousness of the Registration Office and it only received vaild requests. Now we see citizens sneaking in the Office and retrieve a registration notification they had sent, people sending notifications that are not about themselves and even passersby coming in the Office to chat and disrupt the office workers. A sociologist blames the loss of decorum in official affairs on the lack of education but an internet security specialist sees attempt at voter fraud and possible meddling from foreign countries in Atlasia elections.

GOSSIP: FHTAGN AND PERICLES BREAKUP?

Recently, the Doof York Times has noticed Pericles has been very hostile to one of the five females registered on Atlas, Fhtagn, after is it believed they had a honeymoon in North Korea while attempting to negotiate an end to the war in May 2018. However, it seems the divorce has gotten ugly.

First, it was revealed that after fhtagn won the war over their kiwi bird, Pericles was seen saying this on some chat thing called discord:

Things got uglier though when it was discovered that Pericles had ordered a photo of fhtagn's insides via a MRI:

Stay tuned, we will have more on the pet kiwi bird's status and the location of the mri recently discovered buried in the sand.

Poirot
Reporting from the Supreme Court

Files have been piling up in the Supreme Court. Justices have a lot of work. They don't have a reputation of being young and energetic. We have uncovered how they will get the work done. Witnesses have seen behind the Court building a deliveriy truck unloading cases with the logo of a famous energy drink company.

There are three judicial requests ongoing. One is about the legality of a Presidential executive order to share classified information. Another one is about the legality of a move between region that was accepted by the Registrar General. Finally, a case about the last Fremont Senate election.  The validity of two ballots are challenged and that the presumed winner is not eligible to win.

Ctizens can discuss Supreme Court cases in this thread:
