I love how the one thing this has in common with our timeline is that George Wallace is still the most recent third party to win at least one state

I also find it intriguing that Trump in this universe does better than Perot second attempt, but worse than Perot first attempt.

I’m going to do an update on parties views on issues

Abortion- The constitutional amendment pretty much resolved the issue which is why the electoral map doesn’t get as sorted as it did in OTL

Immigration: Both parties have strong pro and anti immigration wings though the anti immigration wings are for different reasons . The GOP anti immigration wing is more due to law and order and cultural reasons while the democratic ones is due to labor and economic populist reasons .

Trade : While trade did open up , it wasn’t to the extent as OTL

Crime : The War on Drugs doesn’t escalate to near the amount it did in OTL(at least federally) as the GOP is a much more civil libertarian and Federalist Party than OTL. The GOP still holds a tough on crime  position against violent crime, it doesn’t result in a war on drugs like OTL .

Taxing and Spending: While the GOP is for tax cuts , they aren’t to the extent as OTL as they are more of a budget Hawk style party than OTL .

Regulations: The GOP is a very anti-regulation party on the federal level(even more than OTL) while Democrats are for enacting more regulations

Federalism: This is the main issue that divides the two parties, with Republicans being for pushing for more block grants and giving states more powers and Democrats being the power of expanding the federal government.

Energy and the Environment: Like immigration, both parties having a wing that supports more climate change action and regulation and a wing that opposes it(Republicans oppose it for pro business reasons , Democrats for more union friendly ones).
