What was the deal with Atlas endorsements in 2012?

It seems to me that this is generally a left-leaning site, though less so than a lot of other political fora - so I was surprised scrolling through past endorsements that third parties did very well in the 2012 presidential endorsement. What was going on back then?

For reference: https://uselectionatlas.org/MOCK/PRESIDENT/2012/mock.php - Johnson won an outright victory here.

Also, did I read the map right that McCain won a landslide in 2008? The format was a bit different, so I'm not 100% sure. Does Atlas just not like Obama?

Anzeigenhauptmeister:
Roseanne won West Virginia? 😂😂😂 The sad thing is she would really win there nowadays...

This site is perpetually cursed to never endorse the winning presidential candidate.

We got a mention on a Libertarian site and they all dropped in and voted.

Same thing happened in 2004, though Kerry was able to pull ahead and win everything. Mock election maps are pretty meaningless.
