October 19, 2005 - Corzine Widens Lead Over Forrester In New Jersey, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Democrats Are More Corrupt, Voters Say 2-1
Democratic U. S. Sen. Jon Corzine has opened a 50 - 43 percent likely voter lead over Republican Douglas Forrester in the race for Governor of New Jersey, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Seven percent are undecided.

This compares to a 48 - 44 percent Corzine lead among likely voters in a September 28 poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

In today's survey, Republicans back Forrester 87 - 9 percent, while Democrats back Corzine 90 - 6 percent and independent voters back the Democrat 50 - 38 percent.

The race is either going to be within 5pts of each other or 10-15pt margin.

There really isn't much good news, though, for Corzine supporters. He's been up around six-seven points for awhile now.

That is, except for those polls showing it as a 1-4 point race.

Only one poll showed it as a one point race.

Once there's a single poll showing Forrester ahead, then maybe I'll consider this up in the air.

Why wouldn't it have a 6-9 point margin?

The way NJ undecideds tend to break.  They tend to move in a block one direction or the other.  If they go to Corzine, big win.  If they go to Forrester, close race.  NJ breaks late and it often breaks hard.
