Both winners of the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics are still alive. I wonder if that's some sort of record.

Yasuhiro Nakasone, the Prime Minister of Japan from 1982 to 1987, is still alive.



Here is a picture of him shaking hands with CPC General Secretary Hu Yaobang (right) in 1986. This meeting probably represented the peak of Sino-Japanese relations and Chinese liberalism under the PRC. A month after this picture was taken, Hu was ousted for refusing to expel astrophysicist Fang Lizhi from the Party for preaching western-style liberal democracy. Hu's death sparked the Tian'anmen Square protests in 1989.

Not someone I knew about until reading a recent post in the International Elections, but the PM of Malaysia from 1981 through 2003 was just returned to the office earlier this year...at age 93!
