Margin looks reasonable to me.

I mean it IS Emerson though

Even though it's Emerson, it's a reasonable poll. Last poll had Cruz up at 6 and now this one 5, it is consistent with Cruz being up in the mid-single digits.

Yes, we all(?) know Cruz is ahead here. Stop polling this race.

If you knew the margin was going to be this beforehand, why did we need an Emerson poll to prove it? You don't get to selectively believe bad pollsters when they confirm what you already thought was the margin.

Anyway, Cruz is ahead but I don't see any evidence he's doing better than previously.

Wait a minute. Who exactly said we need an Emerson poll? Huh

No we didn't? No one is saying "Yay Emerson, thanks for polling TX!  Purple heart".

But people are calling this a "reasonable poll." If we already knew that this was going to be the margin, then this poll is entirely useless. Especially since if it showed Cruz up 15 or tied with Beto, people would be saying "lol Emerson is trash, next" and ignoring the poll entirely. It's only "reasonable" because it fits your preconceived notions of where this race is.

Beto had the pre Kavanaugh bump and it has faded, now the race is back to the way it was, a 6 point race

If anyone had a bump, it's Cruz. One which will fade away by election day.

That's not the case for me with "preconceived notions", but you have to look at these polls and see where they average up.
