We're less than a half hour away now. Remember: Today's vote is merely procedural, it's possible a Senator or two will vote Yes today and No on Saturday.

What would the reasoning behind that be?

They want the question to move forward and be settled.  It's what McCain did with the ACA skinny repeal.

If and when Brett Kavanaugh ever provides the fifth vote needed to overturn Roe vs. Wade/Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, and we have a Democratic trifecta at the time that decision takes place, the President should do an Andrew Jackson, and challenge the Court to enforce its decision itself.  With two accused sexual predators on the bench, the Supreme Court will lack all moral authority to push anyone to enforce its decision.

It is possible or even likely that we'll have a Dem trifecta by 2021 or 2025 regardless, but I doubt the prez has a chance to challenge the SC based on an overturn of Roe v. Wade. Our best hope is that Clarence Thomas retires (he's 70 this year) at a point to hand the Democratic president a key  appointment. Court packing is a theoretical option, but requires to bury the filibuster once and for all. And once the GOP gains power gain, they pack the court, too. It's a lose-lose situation either way if Roe is overturned. I'm not sure that ever happens, though, even if Kavanaugh is confirmed.

Wouldn't a No vote today end the debate, though?
I would think those opposed would want this debacle over asap.

Why would anyone do that? It doesn't make sense.

For old-style institutional reasons, or simply to get this circus over with.

I actually think that she is voting NO tomorrow. I'm also hearing that McConnell will keep tomorrows Vote OPEN until early Morning Sunday for Senator Steve Daines so here is my Prediction:

Manchin, Flake will vote YES, Murkowski & Collins NO....and Kavernaugh's fate will be decided by Pence who casts the Tie-Breaker.

McConnell is grandstanding.

Senate Pages. They conduct small errands for the staff or the Senators.

Finally some common sense People on CNN with Blitzer, Bash, Borger and not these Democratic hacks like Powers, Rosen.

NBC has Lester Holt, Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell.

Thanks a lot, we're watching and commenting these events on a Polish FB group about US politics and people were wondering about these kids Smiley

They will need Manchin tomorrow unless McConnell keeps the Vote tomorrow OPEN until Daines returns from his wedding.

I really doubt that Manchin wants to be the deciding vote.
