I wonder when the window to force through another justice closes, assuming Democrats take the Senate. If Republicans are going to withdraw Kavanaugh and force through Barrett or whoever in the lame duck, they better start soon.

The window is closing very very rapidly. It may have already closed.

It takes around a month for the nominee to prep for their hearings, and then 2-3 weeks for the Senate hearings and then the confirmation vote. They might be able to ram through Barrett by late November if they drop Kavanaugh quick.

That would be the case if it wasn't election season. A good number of Senators, including members of the Judiciary Committee like Cruz, will be on the campaign trail. Fewer days to hold hearings, fewer days to get the confirmation.

They'll just have fewer hearings. The Democrats will be upset, but it won't matter, especially because it would be happening after the election and a full two years before the next time anyone is held accountable, so the voters will forget entirely. I have confidence that the Republicans could probably ram through a confirmation in a month if they absolutely needed to, which means they probably don't even need to have a replacement nominee by Election Day.

His being combative with Democrats and Senate Democrats is going to calm fears among the Fox News crowd and Conservatives.

I'm just wondering if that's enough for 50 votes.
Not gonna sit well with the more bipartisan senators. But are there enough of them to halt the nomination?

There are no "bipartisan" Republican senators.

They don't exist.

The closest are Collins and Murkowski. But they aren't really "bipartisan", but more politically pragmatic.

I’m still thinking that Flake may vote against Kavanaugh.

I find it hard to believe that Snowe wouldn't have gone the Collins route if she had stayed in the Senate.

Kavanaugh does not want an FBI investigation.

He does not want the FBI to ask questions.

He does not want the FBI involved.

If Kavanaugh believes he is innocent, why does he not want 1) and FBI investigation and 2) his friend Mark Judge to testify?

Well, if he is telling the truth (a big IF), two possible reasons:

1. It would prolong the hearings and he may not get in before the midterms

2. Let's face it, we may be none the wiser after an FBI investigation or a Judge testimony. FBI would probably come back with an inconclusive report and Judge is apparently a former addict putting a lot of his testimony in doubt.

Still these hearings have me interested in getting to the bottom of this.

Is it me or is the GOP prosecutor being tougher on Kav than she did with Ford? Maybe she believes the  latter?

Leahy is acting positively disgraceful. How is this man a United States Senator?

So far, any sane person watching this would be a solid No on the confirmation. Let's all hope Murkowski and Collins are paying close attention.

If I on fire you mean ranting like a crazy man, yes.

One question and one question only, Lindsay, when you say that Cavanaugh is as much a victim ask dr. Ford, how exactly was dr. Ford victimized.
