Certain irony that after working on the Starr Report (with it's lurid details about Clinton's sex life) that Kavanaugh is now having to face something Clinton never had to- public questioning about his sex life.

Feinstein asked why Kavanaugh hasn't asked for an FBI investigation.

Kavanaugh's answer included a quick "I'll do what the committee wants" followed by further railing against the length of time it took to get the testiony scheduled (which is, of course, something set by the Republican majority.

And that was the point of DiFi's 5 minutes. To get K to comment about an FBI investigation. I think that was not the point I would have made. I would have asked, don't you think it appropriate in order to help clear your name to have all these witnesses testify and be asked questions under oath, in order for them to support that contents of their affidavits in your support? Isn't that the best way to help us evaluate where the truth is more likely to lie?

Conservatives reactions to Kavanaugh is just more evidence why every Republican should be voted out this November.

The entire movement is diseased and amoral.

Just wondering: who agrees Sweatnik's allegations are very likely false?

I certainly don't agree with you. It was a sworm statement that puts her entire career and freedom on the line. Her accusations are, at the outset, even more credible than Dr. Ford's. Of course, her testimony held up her accusations, so I find them both highly credible now.

OK. So far Kavanaugh is sounding very credible. But, if he's found to be lying, this will pretty much end his career.

Shouting at the senators who will vote on your confirmation doesn't make you look very credible.

Yeah, I'm baffled by this, PeteB. Are you watching the same hearings we are? Kavanaugh looks like a posterboy for a political meltdown.

I am blown away by this man - incredibly impressive. This performance is complete exoneration for me. He is laying it all on the line, giving it all he's got. Now I see what the President saw in him. Even better than Barrett in hindsight. How wrong I was!

How Ford got to and from the venue came up. Somebody drove her. But she apparently can't recall how she got a ride home, after she escaped the house. Did she call someone? Was the driver at the venue? That needs to be fleshed out more.

Especially with the distance.  I'm less concerned with how she got there.  Ford, according to her account, ran from the house.  How she got home has to have been part of the trauma; she's out at night, running from someone that she though might accidentally kill her, and she doesn't remember what she did.  That is a pretty big gap in memory.

That said, I think something happened to Ford, but not the way she's describing it.

And how does and I quote not the way she described it, translate from she's not certain how she got home to she mistook her Salter for Brett Kavanaugh? Serious question

And important to remember: fabricated stories don't tend to have holes that are as easy to fill as "I took a bus home."

Don't you want the testimony of the other witnesses subject to questions answered under oath to seal the deal?

Which is why it is credible. It is the wrong thing politically, but probably how I would react to a  charge that I thought was false.

Like I said, he's either convinced he is right OR he should be in Hollywood!

This is really bad for females. Now many men across America will treat them with kid gloves, be less inclined to participate in one-on-one work projects alone, less inclined to pursue friendly and romantic relationships with them.

There is a potential backlash to all of this that will infantize women. Perhaps they want that, I don't know why they would.
Or.

Maybe.

They could find a happy middle ground where they treat women like people and not sexually assault them.

I hope that's not difficult for most.

What about those who are falsely accused? Teen Vogue writer Emily Lindin said innocent men should also "pay a price". Innocent men. That's disturbing, is it not?

Context? Sorry dude, but I don't believe for a second that you are portraying that statement remotely accurately or honestly.

Ill beliebe it when I see it.

Not that I think the GOP is helping itself much, but this seems hyperbolic

I had to google what that word meant.

Really?

Interesting topic brought up by NBC, this whole republican process has been set up in a way to protect the Senate Reps, not Kavanaugh. So his appeal to partisanship actually makes sense in that regard.

People who lie have a tendency to flip out, and they really don't like it when someone calls them out on their bull

If Kavanaugh were a woman people would be telling her to stop sounding so shrill and start smiling more

I wonder when the window to force through another justice closes, assuming Democrats take the Senate. If Republicans are going to withdraw Kavanaugh and force through Barrett or whoever in the lame duck, they better start soon.

The window is closing very very rapidly. It may have already closed.

The C-Span lines are so much more lit and representative of real America than Twitter. Party like it's 2004.

538 did an article about this a few days ago. Theoretically, the GOP has a clear but tight window if they nominate someone before the end of October. If they wait until then there almost certainly won't be enough time for the vetting/hearings before a presumably-Democratic Senate takes office.

The thing that struck out at me just watching this in the last 20 minutes is the nastiness - the childish, over-the-top lack of decorum that this man is showing - it's very revealing into his personality.

There is, frankly, an attitude that Brett Kavanaugh has - which is awkward.  It's as if the teenage boy is at this hearing and not the adult man.
