Let's say Trump wins 61% of the Popular Vote (as well as an Electoral College landslide) in 2020.

This happens despite record-breaking turnout from Latinos, African-Americans, the youth vote, etc. There's just even more turnout from Republicans and more people just vote Republican to support Trump in 2020. Voter fraud/hacking/disenfranchisement do not seem to be issues: this is a real result. Trump is finally the one to get a lot of the perennial non-voters to vote, and his conduct during his first term made most of them vote FOR him.

What would your reaction be? What would this hold for the future of U.S. Politics? How would this affect Congress, the Supreme Court, and how all future elections are held with both parties?

I can speak to what this would mean in regards to the results by demographic. I would assume that to reach 61% (what Johnson received in 1964), Trump would obtain greater than 70% among white voters. Such an outcome, I believe, would probably result in a further intensification of racial and geographic polarization.

It's about U.S. Politics. Not discussing the election, but the aftermath on US Politics. Not a hypothetical match-up or the election itself, but how U.S. Politics would be different.

People said the same about Trump winning in 2016. Of the Midwest even being contestable, how it was fool's gold, how Georgia and Arizona and Texas and Montana were the real swing states.

Trump's 2016 victory shattered my view of this country. This would not surprise me. I'm asking others to picture this as a possibility too, because it is.

The only way Trump gets 61% of the popular vote is if the Democrat commits murder during the election or is an actual communist.

President Trump and the GOP of today are truly the reincarnate of the 1920’s Republicans. 2020’s will be the Roaring 20’s part II.

Record breaking turnout from commonly Democratic voting blocs and the youth voting bloc would not allow a 61% PV win nor a landslide in the EC.

Turnout would have to be critically low for that to happen.

Possible only if electoral laws are changed so that people are obliged to vote as their employers demand. Byut that would probably lead to the President getting more like 81% of the vote.

Trump winning 61% despite record Dem base turnout? Did every single old white person in the country vote twice?

This is a really interesting thread, here are some other equally interesting questions you could ask?

"If a Democrat beats Trump, but it's revealed they colluded with a space empire from another galaxy, what would your reaction be?"

"If Trump loses 100% of the vote, even voting against himself, what would your reaction be?"

"If Trump wins California and Massachusetts, but loses West Virginia and Alabama, what would your reaction be?"

"If Trump and Pence decide to switch places on the ticket, what would your reaction be?"

"If Trump's entire reelection campaign consists of him speaking gibberish, that, when played backwards at half speed, is revealed to be him saying 'Satan' over and over again, what would your reaction be?"

It would also be record Republican turnout, and most Independents/Swings/Previous-Nonvoters going Trump.

By that logic, why stop there? Let's make it 99% of the vote instead. Trump won in 2016 and some people said some stuff, so anything is possible!

They say the moon isn't made of cheese, but people said the same thing about Trump winning in 2016.

This only happens in the event that aliens land on earth in 2019 and they regard Trump as "one of their own", which results in co-operation of aliens and TRUMP (new spaceship-building + warp-engine production plants in rural America).
