What a dickish move by Begich. Who in his staff thought that this would be a great idea?

His entire campaign from the start has been a very strange combination of dickish and quixotic.

Welp:

Should've moved it to lean D instead. Clearly Walker and Dunleavy will split the Sarah Palin fan club vote and allow Bad Boy Begich to sneak up the middle.

Haha, FF move.

Wow, what a true Bad Boy, he's becoming better at retail politics and more populist Purple heart by the minute!

He would have won in 2014 if he had let Tester and Heitkamp campaign for him, tbh.

That's not how it works in Alaska. Dunleavy has the Sarah Palin fan club vote sewn up - he's of that mold, to some extent. Begich and Walker will now fight over the smaller moderate/liberal vote. Good luck with that.

That's a great move, Begich.  You'll do as well as Kendrick Meek did in Florida in 2010 by cutting into Charlie Crist's vote--handing Marco Rubio the Senate seat on a platter.

If anyone should've dropped out in that race, it was Crist. No one likes opportunistic turncoats.

Obviously, he wasn't disliked by the Democrats that much.  Then why was he the nominee for a desperate Democratic party against Scott in 2014?

The point is that like in Florida in 2010, Alaska in 2018 doesn't have much of a moderate/liberal base to have one viable candidate, much less two.

Democrats literally couldn't find anyone else interested to take on Scott and his mountains of money.

A very pertinent observation in a thread about the gubernatorial election.
