Oh me oh my

The leaker must be found and punished! They have endangered national security!

Does anybody know, if there is any, the penalty for Senate Republicans abusing the 'national security' and/or 'committee confidential' designation?

It seems to me McConnell, Grassley and Cornyn should all be "locked up."

https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/

First Kavanaugh has to clear Committee. Looking at the makeup, none of the Dems are in Trump states up for reelection this year. They should all vote No.

Kavanaugh probably passes 11-10 unless Jeff Flake decides to derail it.

Cocaine Mitch can call nominees directly to the floor.

During today's opening saga, Booker threatened to illegally release a certain committee-confidential email to the public. This comes with a potential penalty of expulsion from the Senate if he actually goes through with it.

It takes 2/3 of the Senate to expel a member.  That would never happen for this.

One thing I've always wondered about: does it require 2/3 of the total 100 (67), or 2/3 of the remaining 99 (66)?

Kyl has been sworn-in, so it's back to 100. But if there were vacancies, the wording is "2/3 of those senators duly chosen and sworn", so having only 99 does drop the threshold to 66.

Also, while that's the threshold normally, I wonder if there's some special rule about what Booker may do specifically.

Nothing wrong with this leaking, honestly. Affirmative Action is racism against whites.

I keep seeing all these stupid and twerpy twitter user names slamming kavanaugh or saying don't vote for him and stuff, and they all think they are being so creative, but the answer is so darn simple.

Some people say Kavanaugh, I say Kavano.

Lol.

Funny how that for all the effort Booker has put into beclowning himself and pretending to be "outraged" that he still will likely end up dropping out before New Hampshire

Regardless of what he thinks, Cory Booker’s desperate grab for attention won’t help his 2020 campaign.

Leahy seems pissed.

He should be. Kavanaugh is an absolute sleaze.  Kavanaugh said "it didn't raise any red flags with me."  Either he's too stupid to realize the point or he's completely unethical. In neither case should this trash be on the Supreme Court.

In the context of the job he held at the time (Staff Secretary), it would not have raised a red flag to see a set of documents from democratic staffers or republican staffers from either house of congress and he would not necessarily know the source of each document he filed or passed to another staffer.

In addition to his now having possibly perjured himself, the racial profiling stuff in his emails is pretty bad. He's pretty much taking the Trump position of it being "temporary" until we can "figure out what to do". Of course we can see how that's working out. It's just an excuse to do it indefinitely.

Have they set a date for the final confirmation vote?

The date cannot be set until he's cleared committee.

When will the committee vote be?

This much is true. Booker, Harris, Warren, and Gillibrand are among the Democrats who I think would lose to Trump in 2020 if they were nominated.

He was FURIOUS during his time interviewing Kavanaugh today. It was kind of cool to watch because he was calm but so angry.

The Republicans are at least asking more relevant questions today instead of the things like "what's your favorite federalist paper?"
