WELLS/RAZZE FOR PRESIDENT

I’ve been unsure about the state of Atlasia for a long time now, but today I bring you good news and hope for the future! The Labor Party is officially back, so the long-downtrodden working class now has their official voice once again! To represent these people and their interests in this election, I have decided to announce a ticket for president, with Razze as my Vice President!

I’ve made it known in private conversations that I am unimpressed with the current tickets. This is not to say that I don’t respect them as Atlasians, and as people, but I believe that Atlasia deserves another choice. We need someone to represent the interests of the worker and the progressive movement in this election and in the White House. We want an issues-based campaign that deals with what all Atlasians care about.

So, without further ado, here is a brief summary of our platform:

Our economic policy is one that allies itself with the interests of democratic socialism and the labor movement. We wish to ensure that the issues of poverty, homelessness, and hunger are addressed effectively and compassionately. We wish to expand the safety net and introduce measures to reduce income inequality. We also believe in securing that minorities are treated fairly by our nation. On social issues, we are small government and believe that individuals should have greater freedom overall. On foreign policy, we believe in nonintervention unless circumstances absolutely demand it, instead focusing on diplomacy with other nations. We also want a greater emphasis on human rights. On game reform, we are opposed to most huge, sweeping reforms and believe that any reform must have clear benefits to be enacted. This is only a quick overview, so more specific policies will be released later, and if you want details now just ask!

Razze and I hope that you recognize the need for a true leftist in the Oval Office and vote for us in October for a bright future. Together we can Make Atlasia Well Again! Tongue

Considering that you resigned from the Lincoln Assembly 7 minutes into your term, why should the people of Atlasia have confidence that you will actually serve if elected?

I resigned because I felt that Zaybay deserved a spot in the Lincoln Assembly more than I did. Any new player deserves a great start, and resigning was the easiest way to ensure a promising player didn't lose interest after losing an election and having to wait two months to try again, a pattern I have unfortunately seen again and again.

A similar situation will never occur when I win the presidency.

Thank you for the good question, Wulfric.

Will your vp actually make threads each time it is needed? I hope you are aware of what the VP actually does these days, they are in charge of making the threads and administering votes for any Senate ---> House bill or House ---> Senate bill along with delivering them to the White House and making sure the formatting is right, among other roles.

I have the utmost faith in Razze to be a good VP. He has promised to me that he will be extremely active in office. I would not have included Razze on the ticket if I had doubts. People questioned your commitment to the role of VP last election, so I'm sure you'll understand where I'm coming from.

Thank you for your confidence, Mike! I hope we can prove to the people of Atlasia that we'll fight for their values if we have the privilege of being elected.

I seem to have done a rather good job myself on that score:

Healthcare/Glass-Steagal/Infrastucture/helped small business/preserved consumer choice/opposed centralization of power (And money) in the Nyman/Wall Street Cartel/removed laws restricting bill of rights/equal treatment of women in public facilities/etc etc etc

razze, can you defend your vote for Pericles' amendment to the Don't Bank with Us Act? Several fellow representatives, including myself, saw it as defending corporate welfare.

I didn't want to hold office on August 27. The return of the Labor Party has made me more enthusiastic about the game for the first time in like a year tbh. The enthusiasm of myself has a strong correlation to the quality of my officeholding, and it's the same with other players. Which is why I think that in order to preserve and inspire more activity, we need to spice things up.

Thanks for the question. Keep them coming. I'm sure they'll keep being asked in good faith.

What makes you sure you won't resign? And will Razze maintain a level of activity similar to his current level in the House, or is there good reason for Atlasians to believe that Razze will actually step up and thrive in this role? I'm genuinely curious, because I'd love to be able to support this ticket but Atlasians deserve to know whether it can maintain and strengthen the game and perform well in the role.

Of course I know Razze and I will do well once elected. We are working to ensure that the focus of politics in this campaign and once we are elected is one that supports the disadvantaged and marginalized, and we are committed to ensuring that they aren't abandoned. These issues (and the amount of energy that our campaign based around such issues has generated and will continue to generate) are sure to continually motivate us for the next half a year. To put it another way, we are enthusiastic that the left has a real shot at the White House and we want to make sure we take full advantage of such an event when it happens. That includes staying active.

I mean, I would not be running if I had any inklings of resignation or doubts about my activity. Same goes for including Razze on my ticket. I hope I have made myself clear.

Thank you for the question, colleague!

For those who are not aware, Pericles's amendment would have protected the Export-Import Bank. I know this can be a complicated issue, but after listening to the debate between Pericles, Fhtagn, and Mr. Reactionary, I believed it was important not to abolish the institution.

I understand the criticism of Ex-Im, seeing as the Boeing Company receives a majority of its grants. However, the aerospace industry (which, in Atlasia, is mostly Boeing) represents the largest amount of exports in Atlasia's economy. Boeing has a majority of Ex-Im grants, in my view, because they have earned them. Boeing has employed hundreds of thousands of Atlasians, and its sheer size means the federal government is very strict with regard to safety. Thanks of government oversight, Boeing has created some of the safest products in the world.

So I understand why you or some other lawmakers disliked the bank (and in the end it was abolished anyway), but this was an important choice, and I believe I made the right decision.

Thank you for your question. Mike and I hope to earn your vote!

I hope you can answer these few questions:

1. How would your administration effectively deal with inactive cabinet members and Federal Representatives/Senators?

2. What actions would your administration take if any to improve affordability and income inequality in Atlasia?

3. How would you handle a conflict with another active player within the game?

4. What role should the GM take in Atlasia? Are their certain storylines by the GM you feel would be out of line?

5. If an election came down to two candidates who would you choose to vote for and why?
-Candidate 1 is a partisan liberal who is incredibly loyal to your party but inactive and relatively combative with other members in the game.
-Candidate 2 is a strongly conservative member but is active and willing to effectively to work with you on issues you share some common ground on.
