https://www.wsj.com/articles/puerto-ricos-hurricane-maria-death-toll-now-estimated-at-nearly-3-000-1535475600

Which, while Trump made the claim that it "wasn't as bad" as Katrina to justify his almost nonexistent response, turns out it's twice as high.

Maybe he was counting by the three-fifths rule.

We're approaching one year since the storm happened, and I don't think it's emphasized enough how much Trump's administration neglected the protectorate. It's sickening how he keeps getting away without consequences for all the harm he does. Hopefully that will change in November.

The Trump Administration deliberately misled the American people regarding how many US citizens died in our territory of Puerto Rico. That's what happened. And there will be no public accountability for these actions.

Puerto Rico needs to be made a state post haste so that people can't get away with ignoring it. Or at least not as easily.

Bush paid the price for Katrina in 2006 and 2008, and social media wasn't quite as ubiquitous back then as it is today.

These days, Trump should be paying, at minimum, a 2006-level price for this at the polls.
