Rest in peace anyone who was prevented access to healthcare for the sort of illness which John McCain could afford top-notch medical treatment for, as a result of his policies.

Have you forgotten McCain's vote last year that stopped the repeal of Obamacare? As I fully expected, it is the "socialist" or "burgundy" avatars on here who are dancing on the man's grave. The exact same kind of people who danced on the graves of Barbara Bush and of Charles Krauthammer earlier this year. I mean, come on. What is it with praising people's deaths?
Literally no one is doing that. The only one who can be seen as being offensive to his death are the one you posted, and Sanchez, a Trump Republican. Seriously, dont take a man's death to get a jab at the left, its rather disgusting.

That is not what I'm doing. I'm calling out the comments made by others. How dare you to presume that I mean any offense to McCain! And the complaints that I raise are valid ones.
You are blowing up a problem that doesnt exist and using it to jab at the left. That is rather disgusting. I bet you cant even quote 3 Maroon or Red avatars that made such comments on this thread.

Chief Justice Keef is one. The opening poster of this thread is another. Those are the few who have posted thus far. To say nothing of people like IndustrialJustice, who will come in here with some nasty photographs of dead Middle Eastern children or some quote by McCain that is out of context. I don't look too kindly on people who dance on the graves of others, unless those others happen to be truly vile or evil people.

American politics basically consists of "when in doubt, punch left."

So, you have no proof. The opening poster just said "prepare for the hot takes". Thats not insulting, that isnt even an opinionated statement. As I said before, you made an opportunistic jab at a political side based on one poster and your own biases. 1 example is not good enough, especially since I can point out one example on the right, Sanchez.

Umm, maybe not on this thread, but have you seen your rose buddies responding to Ocasio’s statement? I just want to clarify I like Ocasio’s statement a lot and thought it was very good and kind, it’s the responses, here you can go see for yourself

thats twitter, if AOC/Trump/Schumer/insert literally anyone, said they liked chocolate ice cream, there would be outrage, real or fake.

Remember the poll Swearigan did for whether she should run? It was shared in the Pro-Trump Reddit, and was basically bombarded by pro-Trumpers saying she should run. I dont really trust twitter as an output of general opinion.

And I agree, I like her statement.

It takes talent to put out a statement more tone deaf than President Trump

Good grief.

I quoted the comment by Chief Justice Keef in my initial response. The overwhelming majority of the responses here have been positive ones, but the detractors on this website haven't even fully mobilized yet to come here. And yes, I did see Sanchez's posts. They aren't the most negative ones that I've seen people post on this website though.

I am not interested in getting into an argument over this.

Rest in peace, John McCain. It would have been a honor to have met you in person.

Donald Trump and the pieces of s**t trashing McCain in this thread should get bent.

This is the American Left, and don't let anyone convince you otherwise. Always punch left, because the Left always deserves it.

wow, those 4 tweets by complete random strangers who may or may not even exist toooooooooootally represent the Left and what it stands for. /s

Anyway, McCain was a man of mixed legacy, and its valid to see criticism from both sides of the aisle of the man(dont act like Trump supporters havent been trashing them, they have) and while I believe we should give some time, others may not feel the same, and thats totally valid. Dont try to take this, however, and turn it into a political attack, for that both disrespects McCain, and humanity as a whole.

The main purpose of Twitter seems to be to try to find a tweet that makes a group you don't look bad. If you can't find one, then it's time to create a new Twitter account.

Yes, I agree. It has devolved into a sword fight about the content and appropriateness of other posters' comments to the point where the thread has ceased to a be a viable tool of discussion. As a suggestion, for threads announcing a public figure's death who is other than a clear villain, rather than using that thread to discuss the flaws of the individual, or as a vehicle to discuss health care policy or whatever, perhaps it would be better to start another thread a bit later, discussing the decedent's legacy. In fact, I think such a thread exists. In that way, it will seem less offensive  to some posters.

We’ve lost a genuine war hero who stood more often with principle than with party rule.

There are some really disgraceful comments here, largely from one side of the aisle.
