Cross posted from the Wisconsin Megathread, but it has been flooding in Madison since Monday night when it rained like 13 inches in only a couple hours:

The fear now is that there are more storms forecasted for this evening and the dams that control the water flow for the Yahara River, which connects Lake Mendota to Lake Monona and has already flooded badly, are at risk of be compromised and failing, which would be horrific:

Governor Walker has already declared a state emergency:

It's getting worse and worse. I live in really high ground, so I'm fine, but my professor's street is slowly getting more and more flooded (even when it wasn't raining). We're getting a thunderstorm all day today and tomorrow, and again on Thursday.

I'm not sure what's going to happen, but this is both unprecedented and concerning.

Parts of the city in big trouble, particularly the Isthmus, and the arboretum looks like it might be completely flooded soon.

This is Walker's Hurricane Sandy moment. I think we'll see a bounce in the polls for him, the same way the Hurricane last year boosted Rick Scott. Also, this will serve to highlight Madison's poor city planning...which would be a huge boost to the GOP.

Poor city planning... for an event that has never happened in history... and a city that is literally between two big bodies of water... Can you just log off and never come back?

Good luck. The rain was hard here this morning in the Twin Cities, hopefully stays north or dies down before hitting there.

I never thought it was possible for hofoid to get worse.

For those of you living in the area, be safe.
Don't risk your life for property. Get out early if the authorities direct so.

Thankfully? We need the rain here in SoCal.
