A poll does find a "slim" (15 point) lead for keeping the law, so that's something.

MA is one of the most Democratic states in the nation, but that is not the same thing as most progressive. I would agree that it is likely more progressive than average on this particular issue, but it might not be as much so as one might think based on partisanship.

Not to mention that, if we use gay marriage as a comparable political yardstick, such referendum tend to drop in support considerably as election day approaches. However, this is different in that it is a measure to REPEAL a law rather than pass one, so it's not a matter of "entering the unknown" where soccer mom's and their spouses can be scared into worrying that JUST MAYBE the sky will fall on their families if such a big change is undertaken.

Massachusetts was the first state to legalize gay marriage

That was the doing of the State Supreme Court. As a general rule, Supreme Courts can be far removed from the voters.

Romney Care/Obama Care was literally a Republican policy designed by the Heritage Foundation in reaction to Bill Clinton's Health Care plan. It is very much a moderate/corporate policy.

Again, I am not trying to say that MA is not more progressive than the average state. Clearly it is. But it also has a lot of white working class voters who vote Dem but are not really progressive. There are many Democrats in the MA State legislature that reflect that reality. Boston and the Berkshires are not the entire state.

Yes, the city of Houston voted down an anti discrimination bill recently. And who can forget Proposition 8 in 2008?
