OK, I wouldn't marry/date a fascist, a bigot, a homophobe and a racist, other factors notwithstanding.

Different ideology and views, sure.

It's good to have some ideological differences with people in life. This includes significant others.

Completely different worldview? No.

For example:

No to extremists:
- No Nazis/Racists/White Supremacists (as a ethnic and religious minority this is obvsly a no-go and also because good people don't date nazis)
- No Communists/Marxists/Stalinists (as someone whose family has lived through communism I can safely say I will not date someone who would ideologically try to explain away my family's experiences).

No to someone who's core values differ from my own:
- No Anti-Zionists (should be obvious why)
- No die-hard social conservatives (Yea, as a bisexual, I can safely say no to a relationship w/ an anti-LGBT person)
- No militant atheists or ultra-secular people (I want a Jewish family, believe in a two-gender binary and a somewhat traditional societal outlook)

I am not sure what ultra secular means, but assuming it means someone who is Godless, you would not even date them? I feel just so excluded. Sad  Btw, I would not want to spend time either with a "militant atheist," if by that you mean one who trashes people who are religious as ignorant superstitious irrational dolts, etc. That is very hubristic and obnoxious behavior.

I guess that’s fair. Though she must be very far left indeed if you’re calling someone more liberal than yourself Smiley

Anyway, I probably couldn’t be with a Jesus freak or a militant atheist. Or someone #woke you have to walk on eggshells to be around all the time

Really not that liberal, mate! Smiley

I'd date a Clintonian neoliberal, a Sandersesque Social Dem, a mainstream Progressive, a Socialist, and a center-leftist, etc.. But I'd never date a hyper-partisan Tankie communist who rails on liberals all day NOR would I date a Gay Republican MAGA person. The latter usually has serious problems with racism, classism, and internalized homophobia, so that's a no go.

EDIT: Obviously wouldn't date neo-nazi men, white supremacists, genocide deniers, Jew haters, Muslim haters, bigots of any race, etc.

I wouldn't date a neo-Nazi or white supremacist, a tankie/Stalinist/NK apologist, or an extreme social conservative.

I'd like to say yes, but honestly probably not. We could be of different ideologies if we still have some of the same worldview and priorities. Like I strongly disagree with my communist friend, but we agree a lot about what the world's problems are, we just differ on solutions. There's also a decent number of Trump supporters who I find a lot in common with, although I don't think I could date a Trump supporter.

I definitely couldn't date a Democrat from the "I hate working class people" section of the party. Also couldn't date someone who's really homophobic, racist, etc. obviously.

Of course, I was dating a girl that loved Bernie Sanders not too long ago.

I honestly don't think I could date a Trump voter. I just have a hard time having respect for someone who thought this debacle would be a good idea.

Other than that, I probably wouldn't want to date a legit, full blown Communist or a really obnoxious militant feminist.

I wouldn't say I would exclude a girl simply based on political views, but I would in practice likely do so because a different set of political views likely implies a different set of values.  I wouldn't date someone who wasn't a Christian for a lot of reasons.  Likewise, I wouldn't date anyone who wouldn't commit 100% to never remotely consider abortion for three reasons.  First, it would suggest a fundamental massive difference in values.  Second, given how passionate I am about the right to life, it would probably cause a strain there if we felt completely differently.  Last, I could never live with the guilt of being the father to an aborted baby for the rest of my life, even if there was nothing I could have done.

The girl I am currently seeing doesn't know nearly as much as I do about politics, but she agrees with me on everything we have talked about so far in that vein (one of the first things I told her was that I am a Christian and have very conservative views and she said she agreed with me completely and shared that point of view).  She is at least as socially conservative as I am, maybe even a tad more socially conservative if that is possible.

Anyone I would date or marry would almost certainly be highly intelligent, sensitive, and funny. That being said, I would have a hard time dating someone very right-wing, anti-Black, anti-gay, etc. If someone was very left-wing, I wouldn't have a problem as long as they respected others' views, that people who are raised in very conservative households may have trouble turning on a dime or turning their back on their families or churches, etc. Someone who realized that political or ideological growth, like other kids of growth, takes time, and who is understanding and empathetic.

No, I mean someone who wouldn't want to raise our children Jewish because "religion is stupid indoctrination." I should've written that sentence more clearly lol.

If you both actually care about it and are different, it's going to be a problem unless you're both VERY mature about it.  Thankfully, most people don't really give a sh**t (hence the "lesser of two evils" ugly side effect (I did it Torie!)) so this isn't really a problem.  You're much more likely to have problems for other reasons like your dick is too small and don't work right or spending too much money on 18th century political posters and the flag collection.

A lot of people get their opinions about humor and life with political opinions & ideology attached, so it can be a problem. Very conservative girls make a lot of jokes or do things that I don't (thursday Mass or something) so that's not going to happen. Politics is more than elections! That's important to recognize.

Sure. The set of [girls I've liked] is actually pretty noticeably to the right of [girls I know]. If someone has a substantially different background than me, I tend to enjoy talking to them more, and will usually have deeper conversations with them. I don't actually know any Trump-supporting girls in real life (one or two Trump voters, but even they can't stand him), so I won't confidently say I'd date/marry a Trump supporter. But there are definitely religious right + libertarian + Bernie sis girls I would at least date.

I would, assuming they didn't hold really extreme views, like white people are the "master race" or it's okay to treat the disabled like dirt.

Pretty sure a number of my close female friends hold significantly more conservative views than me, but I don't bring up politics around them.

Nope. Maybe we can disagree on like economic issues but socially I won’t tolerate or accept anything that differs from my core values. It won’t work.
