I'm originally from Jerzey.  The Democrat Party is incredibly corrupt, and sometimes the voters get so fed-up with the corruption and lies that they elect a Republican.  An example of this would be Chris Christie.  Never would have been elected if Corzine wasn't such a POS.  

This race is still solidly D (like 56-44% victory for Menendez solid).

Which is a hilarious assertion, because Corzine was easily the least corrupt Democratic elected official in New Jersey at the time. What *really* happened is that Corzine annoyed the various corrupt Democratic Party county machines by not being dependent on them enough that they all sat out the election or quietly sided with Christie. Christie was the "corruption candidate" in that election.

Anyway, the traditional rule that undecideds break extremely strongly for the Democrats in New Jersey continues to apply. A Republican needs to be at at least 47% or so in pre-election day polling to stand a chance at winning (without significant minor party/independent involvement).
