I got my nose broken during an Anti-KKK demonstration in Indianapolis back in the early '90s when they had a giant event on the steps of the State Capitol Building....
It did not occur at the hands of a White Hooded Klansman, but from a Black Man in his early '20s from South Indianapolis because the group I was with was accidentally confused with Klan supporters....
These unfortunate incidents happen when White Supremacists openly march through the streets of American Cities, especially once you add in the confusion that is caused by Law Enforcement officers (Including Undercover Officers) attempting to preempt a massive clash between the Fascists and Anti-Fascists.
I was also a victim of a misunderstanding caused in the heat of an extremely volatile crowd based situation with three main actors:
1.) Law Enforcement not having good relationships with various Political Formations involved, and frequently extremely adversarial historical relationships with various communities involved in these types of Anti-KKK Demonstrations (Including Political Brutality in Communities of Color), Excessive use of crowd detention tactics that goes way back to the 1960s, etc....
2.) The misunderstandings about Political Subculture styles and identification in an environment, where quite frankly tensions are already running high, even before the NAZI demonstration even occurs, and suddenly you have a situation where a Black Man in his Mid '20s with some of his friends, sees a bunch of White folks with Black Hoodies walking away, and things quickly accidentally escalate, shortly after the Cops announced they were going to start to tear gas and clear the streets because now anyone in the area will be charged with "unlawful assembly"
3.) The whole "American Flag" angle is new, since way back 20 Years Ago, generally the "Militants" would march in their own formations, BUT in the same Mass Demonstrations the American Flag was frequently as often seen as the Earth Flag, or the Peace Flag, in these types of Demonstrations.
Bottom line----
As the victim of an accidental violent assault back in '93 Midwest at an Anti-KKK Demo, I feel complete an utter sympathy support, and solidarity with the victim.
Still, it's a lot more complicated than all of that, since essentially the goal of the NAZIs is to provoke conflict between Police/Demonstrations, create confusion to the point where Demonstrators accidentally attack fellow Demonstrators, and the create a "Media Incident" for a Law and Order Fascist Message even in "Liberal Oregon"....
The organizers of these Fascist Political formations have been around the block for decades, and are experts at the Divide and Conquer angle, and once again Atlas jumps into a fictional moral equivalency argument, where likely none of you have ever been to a Mass Demonstration protesting KKK/Nazi provocation attempts.....
How many of you have ever been to a Political Demonstration in your lifetimes?
I'll tell you I have been in many since I was assaulted in Indianapolis in '93, but I never ever attended another Anti-KKK Demo.
