Hogg needs to learn a thing or two about Konrad Adenauer.

Can this loser really not finish a sentence without swearing?

Seriously...

I hope Queen Nancy unleashes her wrath against this ungrateful low-IQ individual. She is creating a blue wave so big, it's ridiculous.

Paul Ryan became Speaker at 45 but he's nowhere near as effective as Pelosi was during her term. Besides, John Boehner was leading House Republicans when the took control and Paul Ryan took over in between an election.

At least Pelosi didn't stand on her dead friends to become one of the most powerful women in the country.

Also, how is this sociopath still relevant?

Yeah sure, the Parkland survivors should be listened to on gun violence(not that they should be drafting policy, just that their concerns are relevant). But Pelosi is an unrelated issue, and here it's essentially a random teenager's opinion on Pelosi-except he happens to be famous for something unrelated. It'd be like if the media paid attention when some Atlas poster made an anti-Pelosi thread. I don't hate Hogg, and it's awful when people target the survivors with personal attacks, but that doesn't mean their views are more valuable than everyone else's on everything.

Except a more effective Democratic Party can carry out better policy changes (such as better gun legislation), so yeah, this has everything to do with Hogg and his compatriots.

Hmm, maybe the entire Democratic leadership team shouldn't be people in their late 70s.

No one really wanted the leadership when Pelosi took over after Gephardt left the House. Harold Ford Jr. was younger but of course more conservative than many people wanted so Pelosi was the liberal alternative that won the leadership.

You don't see Emma Gonzalez and Cameron Kasky trying to hog (pardon the pun) the camera every five seconds to stay relevant.

Almost as if surviving a tragedy doesn't make you an expert on unrelated issues.

He has credibility on gun issues. Why does anyone care what he has to say on "Old people am bad"?

That's how I feel about him too. Though I vehemently dislike this comment. It's probably the first time I have ever had the slightest bone to pick with Hogg.

I disagree with his opinion, but I'm not a child so I have the capability to separate my dissatisfaction with Hogg's statement from a primal and instinctive desire to lob childish insults at him for things like his appearance, his academic record, etc.

So people hate him to this degree because he gets more camera time??

Pelosi needs to replaced, but not because of her age. And she needs to be replaced with someone better, which is a low bar, but surprisingly hard.

When a party explicitly fails: as the Democratic Party did in 2016, it's normally considered the decent behaviour in a large democratic country for the men and women at the top to fall on their swords. Pelosi's reign as Democratic leader has seen three outright disastrous elections, and at some point she has to take the buck: yes, she shares the blame with Obama, Clinton, DWS, Kaine etc. but she cannot deny that she has extraordinary large disapprovals for somebody who isn't part of the ruling party, and that one of the main burdens on congressional Democrats in Lean R districts is the spectre of her Speakership. I think a lot of Dems digging in to defend her see politics as a sort of moral play: they believe that Pelosi's reputation is one that has been unfairly slandered and want to remain loyal - but politics is a dirty game where you shouldn't keep around liabilities for sentimental reasons.

I mean, everything he said is correct. Pelosi is old, and the Rs have had a less hierarchical structure when it comes to government. While I dont think he is the right messenger, he is correct when he says the D leadership is rather old.

The only reason I personally dont want Pelosi to leave is that her likely replacement would suck, but if we get someone like Lee, then I would urge her to step aside.

Also, I find it funny that many posters who have argued to get rid of Pelosi for the exact same reasons that hogg has presented are now suddenly against it. At least keep some consistency, guys.

The fact that this thread has elicited so many responses suggests otherwise.

If we can find a replacement that's actually better I'm all for it but no one seems interested *sigh*
I like Jayapal but she hasn't been there long enough.....Grijalva, Barbara Lee, Schakowsy, Jerrold Nadler, Steve Cohen, Jim McGovern, Pete DeFazio and actually I'd like John Yarmuth too, although part of me wants him to run for Governor of Kentucky in 2019.
