Just spitballing but maybe he should have studied Powell’s thoughts on monetary policy before nominating him

During Obama's presidency, didn't he slam the Fed for NOT raising rates?

He would have had to appoint a total crony like one of his children or a Fox News analyst to get someone who wouldn't raise interest rates in the current environment.

To prevent the economy from overheating, it just makes sense to slowly increase interest rates. Inflation is already on the rise. Just one more proof that our president, a self-proclaimed very successful businessman, and his advisers ("the best people") have just very little knowledge how the economy actually works. Or they simply don't care. I don't know which is worse.

I echo all of the above.

I'm also not sure why he even cares (on a personal level, as obviously this is something that a president should be concerned with on a policy level). I suppose it's because his debts will possibly require higher interest themselves?  It's just really amusing to think of someone with so much supposed wealth getting upset about an increase in interest rates.

Higher interest rates are a cause of economic dissatisfaction in general, and make people more likely to vote against the party in power (in this case, Republicans).

The other rumoured candidates were John Taylor and Kevin Warsh, two notorious hawks lol. Anyway, it's Trump. He just wants to kick the (((elite))) and he doesn't care much about actual policy.

Trump worked in real estate and real estate is heavily dependent on debt. Trump said it himself, he loves debt. He's the king of debt.

But, you don't understand. Raising rates was in Donald Trump's personal interest in 2016.

People who think his presidency is anything other than a personal racket are delusional.

The president is having flashbacks to the days when he was burdened with high-interest, junk-bonds for his now defunct Taj Mahal Casino.

Also, why are his "best people" not telling Moron-In-Chief that he cannot influence the decisions of the Fed. The Federal Reserve in an independent agency, and should not be pressured by any other individuals outside of its walls (not even the president).

He doesn't understand monetary policy. He never did and never will. He doesn't understand anything!

I'd like to see Trump fire Powell (it's unclear if he has such unilateral authority) just to watch the show.

Of course this will cost my portfolio thousands, but I'd still pay to see that.
