Well, even if he is I can't blame him. First he went through a school shooting, and when the survivors demanded action (pretty understandable from their POV) right-wing commentators slingered mud at the Parkland kids and accused them of being actors (which caused a rabid far-right nuts to send death threats to a 17-year old boy). Of course you're going to be angry, and being in the news in that way probably ends up in you overestimating your own self-importance.

He decided to put himself in the public arena and behave in the appalling, attention-seeking, self-aggrandizing manner in which he does. He is also now legally an adult, and clearly wants to be treated like one, so he's perfectly fair game.

That said, I really don't care what he does or doesn't do. If he annoys you, don't pay attention to him. The only reason I clicked into this thread was because of the "barricades" part, which really didn't have an answer anyway.

I can ignore Hogg because he is not relevant to my life. You, too, can ignore him. Attention-seeking people have always existed and the best way to deal with them is to ignore them.  However, in response to another post in this thread, I cannot ignore Trump because he is the President, so there's still quite a big difference.

But seriously, if you don't like him, don't read about him, keep your blood pressure low, and move on with life. He currently has no impact on you whatsoever.

The same reason people have the presence of mind to phone record police abuse, why we have photo and film records of 9/11, how war zone photographers get up in the morning. Something bad is happening, and some humans have the instinct to record it. Not all that unusual actually.

Also I hate to break it to everyone in this thread, but pretty much anyone they admire in public life who isn’t JD Salinger stands a high, high chance of being extremely narcissistic. It’s a tool of the trade. Hogg is just young.

Seriously, I really don't agree that much with what he wants to do but he gives grey hairs to those who are all about "triggering the libs", so I guess he is useful to me in some ways. That is good advice. If you complain about him, then leave him alone. People did not heed this type of advice and now Trump is president.

I think that's part of my issue - he's the only one that seems to have expanded his "mission" from the very personal cause of gun control reform to a general all-purpose left-wing advocacy. Thus, using his mantra and his clout as a survivor for unrelated issues feels very...politician-esque.
