In the sense that his rabid support base probably, if anything, likes McCarthy.

From observation, his most dedicated supporters seem to have no issue with having multiple beliefs that end up contradictory about people/things/issues.

This.

Also, to his supporters its Trump above everybody else. Trump can beef with McCarthy, Steve Bannon, Alex Jones, Adolf Hitler, even Vladimir Putin. Anybody the alt-right loves, and it won't hurt him a bit. If anything, the conflicted republicans will use that as the excuse they need for supporting Trump over the evil politically correct liberals.

And he called Mueller disgraced this morning. I read all of his tweets, but they're kind of going over my head at this point. For the last few weeks, almost every morning when I get up he has put out several Russian collusion tweets. It's pretty pathetic.

More importantly, Trump erred in supporting a bad tax plan, gutting environmental regulation, enforcing a cruel family-separation immigration policy, staffing his cabinet, and sucking at diplomacy with North Korea.

I saw this as well. Beyond pathetic for any individual, let alone the prez. Looks like Mueller is really closing in or why is the orange clown going after him more and more unhinged? Is he setting up the big coup, meaning the firing of the special counsel?

The comparison with McCarthy again proves that Mr. President has little knowledge of history. Very little knowledge. Sad!

I’ve said this several times, but Don McGahn is a smart man who’s fairly young and definitely doesn’t want his legacy to be taking the fall for Trump

Mueller is effective in getting convictions. McCarthy never found a real Commie.

I agree, you should take a listen to today's NYT Podcast (The Daily) about the subject. It's really interesting.

Apparently the Ty Cobb and John Dowd lunch meeting set off alarm bells for McGhan.

A) McGhan viewed Cobb and Dowd meeting and discussing the Meuller investigation without him as a major red flag. This article may provide some perspective as to why he saw it as a red flag.

B) McGhan was generally opposed to Cobb's strategy of providing the Meuller investigation with all the documents they desired.

C) Trump was treating McGhan like sh**t and was pressuring him to sit Down with Mueller's team.

The Trump attacks are one of the most disgraceful Tweets he put out. Donny, don't you have a little sense of decency? The so-called disgraced Bob Mueller has served his country for many decades from the military to the intelligence. While you were a draft dodger with bone spurs, Bob Mueller enlisted in the armed forces; and while you were hosting a Reality TV Show, Bob Mueller was in charge of the FBI to protect his country. Are you freakin' kidding me?

People would say this of me.

I would note that Trump and Sanders both advocate a number of positions that represent the place where the left and right converge.  Trade and foreign policy are the main areas of this.  Trump's Administration would represent more of that if he hadn't pretty much cast his lot with the Freedom Caucus on a widening range of policy decisions.
