What I find interesting is just how concrete and absolute Carter's dominance is in categories such as these. Besides now being the oldest President ever, he is also above and beyond anybody in terms of how long he's lived after leaving the office (38 years). Bill Clinton is the closest former President to taking the crown, and he's still 20 years away.

Barring the election of a President in 2020 who's older than Trump, Carter also is in no danger of losing the distinction of being the oldest President ever any time soon: it'll be at least 22 years before any current President could hope to surpass him (and the closest person to doing that as of now is Trump, no less).

I know Georgia Votes kept track of this during early voting and it may have been posted here but did we ever get a final total of “didn’t vote in 2016” votes in the 2018 elections and how they broke down by race?

I'm not sure. In this thread there may be final EV numbers since I was tracking a lot of the data by day, but I don't know if he ever posted the final data.

Unrelated: I'm pretty sure Karen Handel is doing drag in Chattanooga on the weekends - not good for her election chances!

Kemp would be an absolute idiot to sign this abortion bill. It's just gonna get struck down in court and he's walking a fine line no matter what. He has no room for a big unforced error if he wants to win again and this just might be that. Especially if some movie/tv productions pull out because of it.

Hasn't Kemp previously said that he'll sign it?

Yes and said again that he would yesterday. I guess this is the hill they want to die on.

There’s a reason Perdue and Deal never touched this stuff with a ten foot pole. I guess deep down they probably all know it’s getting to be their last hoorah

At this time, Tomlinson would do better than Michelle Nunn did in 2014, but Perdue will be favored.  Probably a 52-47 vote.

Perdue favorability: 46/24 (+22)
Kemp favorability: 46/39 (+7)
Trump favorability: 39/55 (-16)

The numbers for the other 3 make sense, but how in the hell is Trump -16 here?

If his approval was that bad in Georgia, he should be in the low to mid 30s nationally.

Guess this means we're going to see 2022 rematch between Kemp & Abrams.

Jon Ossoff eyeing a Senate run (if Abrams doesn't).

So now he's running as a lefty? Interesting... Don't know if I trust him but it makes me dislike him less...

Tomlinson would start off at a disadvantage if Ossoff got in. It'd be even more interesting if Rev. Dr. Raphael Warnock got in. But I don't know if he has political ambitions.

If he lost a Special Election, he can't win in Georgia when McBath won a year later.

I might honestly prefer Tomlinson to Abrams. She seems to want it more than Abrams does, and she didn't just lose a statewide race not a year ago.

McBath turned down a $2k contribution from Ilhan Omar:

Quote
Up in D.C., the conservative Free Beacon has pointed to a $2,000 campaign contribution that U.S. Rep. Illhan Omar, D-Minn., reported making to fellow freshman Democrat Lucy McBath of Marietta. The website noted that McBath did not report the contribution – which is true. The McBath campaign told us this morning that the contribution was not accepted.

This is probably a smart move.  The district has a substantial Jewish population.
