Okay, here's another. Despite my vigorous criticism of cold hearted Republicans, and I don't fall for their error of thinking charity can replace social policy, my charitable giving has been appalling these past couple years.

Admittedly, in my defense a lot of that has to do with the economics of having started a new business less than three years ago. 2 years ago was economically hard on my family, and last year was only stable. Admittedly, this year I've made more than I've ever made in my life ( which is not as impressive as it sounds considering I spent 18 of the previous 21 years in the public sector before starting my partnership 3 years ago), it still feels like any given month we are teetering between absolutely rolling in cash and my having to consider getting a second job.

Oh, I exaggerate. We're doing more than fine. It's just so new and tenuous, especially after the last two years, that I fear it could shut off with a couple bad months. And now with the economy tanking...

Well, at least that's what I tell myself to assuage my guilt.
