Perhaps Democrats need to stop acting as if Trump is the Village Idiot, because he keeps getting the better of them.

These are the exceptions, not the rules.

When Mueller cuffs and stuffs Trump, I'll concede your point.

(Conor Lamb, Doug Jones, Bob Mueller, Omarosa Manigault)

They're only the exceptions because November hasn't come yet, and with it a Dem House with subpoena power in 2019.

Omarosa has totally out-Trumped Trump in the media this week.

That may well happen.  Of course, Peter Strzok and Andrew McCabe counted their chickens before they hatched, did they not?

If you're talking about how as President, Trump can still fire individuals in the federal government because they threaten him, you've got me there. We don't have any way to stop that kind of tinpot vengeance.

I submit it's not a great analogy to whether Trump's allies lose the House or not, since Trump controls one (illegally firing exec branch staff) and can't seem to get a handle on the other.

It's actually a slick move by Trump.  He Tweets out to millions of low information voters that Maxine Waters, someone they hate, is the Democratic Leader.

That wasn't ignorance; it was a deliberate "thought insertion" tweet.  How many more people on the fence will go to bed tonight thinking Maxine Waters is the leader of the House Democrats?  How many votes will that idea in people's heads cost Democrats at the polls?

Trump is slicker and smarter than his enemies.  He just hid in plain sight and did damage to the Democratic Party's image amongst the sort of moderate undecided voters they need to win big.

this goddamn forum, I swear to god. You people overestimate the impact of meaningless things to a ridiculous extent.

If anything, you guys underestimate Trump. "LOL he's stupid" is your reaction to every tactical move he makes. It's why he's two steps ahead of everyone at any given time.

The answer is "almost zero" because virtually no "low information voters" know who Maxine Waters is. Or follow follow Trump tweets closely for that matter.

They have to do this.

Trump is not that bright (Only a fool could manage to get 39% with a very good economy and no major crisis abroad) and they know it. But admitting Trump is dumb, means admitted that they are dumb or at least were conned by a very stupid person.

So you always get this "4th dimensional chess" nonsense from guys like Fuzzy.

I would guess that the vast majority of low information voters have no idea who Maxine Waters is, and they don't follow Trump on Twitter.

The biggest suckers in American politics are people who are naive enough to believe the grand narratives of an election victory. There is no deeper meaning behind Trumps victory
