In 2000, 2004 and 2016 the margins were under 1%, while in 2008 Obama won WI by 14% and by 7% in 2012.

Looking at vote share, it looks like trump didn't gain more votes then Romney but rather Hillary unreformed,

However, looking at map trump did gain some group in the western parts of Wisconsin particular the south west of Wisconsin...

It seems like WI in 2016 reverted back to 00' and 04 super narrow margins.

This goes to show how Hillary ignoring WI was a big mistake - she probably forgot how WI was decided by a fraction of a percent back in the super-close elections of the 2000s (for 2016, many people were predicting a super-close election in the final days leading up to Election Day).
