I still don't get why he has to go on Twitter to bash his own Attorney General.  Seriously?  Act like an adult and make a decision on whether to keep him inside the White House.

He probably wants to fire but his handlers, lower level staff, and other cabinet members are holding him back

Trump is obviously grossly unfit to be President.

Those poor people have to have the most difficult job in the world. I'd feel sorry for them if they weren't complicit.

This, so apparently his plan is to cyberbully Sessions into quitting.

Many of Trump's most ardent supporters have now turned upon Sessions, accusing him of being "part of the Deep State" and of not doing enough to go after Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Brennan, and other so-called "enemies of the Administration." Say what you will about Trump, but his tweets so often do reflect the viewpoints of his base. I cannot think of any other President in recent decades who has so attacked one of their own officials such as this one.

Yep. I'm pretty sure that either he checks in on, or has someone keep him up to date on, the happenings of his followers in their various internet homes.

I think that's his goal, but he doesn't realize that not everyone has an ego as fragile as his. I don't like Sessions and think he's a racist son of a gun, but he is very much a model example of a hard-skinned (and hard-nosed) Southern politician. I'm sure personally the words irk him, but he's not going to let that show and he's certainly not going to give up his dream job that he left the Senate for just because someone's saying mean words. Yeah, that someone is the president, but since it's on Twitter and irrelevant, it's easy to shrug off.

I wish we lived in a world where I could root for Jeff Sessions being fired. But with the investigation in jeopardy from that action, we just have to deal with Sessions. Him being Attorney General is like getting a prostate exam. It's extremely unpleasant, but it's for the best.

While I agree with what you're saying, I'd very much like to keep the thoughts of stiff appendages in butts and Jefferson Beauregard Sessions as separate as possible Tongue

It really is surprising that he has not used the nuclear codes yet. With that temper it is a baffling to understand what is stopping him from creating absolutely chaos.

Watching as Jeff Sessions is slowly humiliated has been one of the rare highlights of the Trump administration.

It really is surprising that he has not used the nuclear codes yet. With that temper it is a baffling to understand what is stopping him from creating absolutely chaos.

He's a spoiled brat, but even spoiled brats know there are limits to what they can get away with. And he's also quite clearly a coward - he loves picking on people he knows cannot or will not hit back, but he's always very leery of pushing people who can hit back too far. Witness his refusal to name-call, or even criticize Putin, even when publicly slapped down.  And while he is a draft dodger, military power is something he seems to have some admiration for, even if he doesn't understand it.

Trump didn't get to be the world's most-prominet grifter by taking chances with his audience when there were easier targets available. While I'm not certain what would happen if he tried to launch an unprovoked war or nuclear strike, I doubt he is either. And possible bad outcomes for him include swift (legal) removal from office, a extra-legal coup, or simple humiliation as his orders are rejected.

The anthropic principle is the explanation.

If he had used the nuclear codes, we wouldn't be around to wonder why he used the nuclear codes.

i.e. in all possible worlds, he can't have done so because there would be no world if he does.

This may lead one to incorrectly infer that it is unlikely, simply because it has not yet happened.

That's the quantum suicide hypothesis. You can never die from your own perspective because there's always another universe (branch of the wave function) where you survived whatever caused your death.
