I know the Democrats are willing to sacrifice a lot of ideological purity to keep the blue wave going, but at the expense of the environment? This is a bad move.

This is why I hate Tom Perez. He should have never been elected as DNC Chair.

They seem to want to lose, since they're so scared that The Socialists will take over the party.

On the one hand, I'm for Energy Workers.

On the other hand, this switch really does make one look like a practitioner of the world's oldest profession, does it not?

They know they'll get a "Drumpf sucks" bounce and that's all they care about.

Clinton's nonexistent focus on the environment in 2016 should've told people this is where the party is going.

Democrats like Tom Perez right now are benefitting from a lack of a party-defining national figure and a general impetus among the left to get Democrats elected in November, no matter what kind of Democrat they are. With most of the 2020 presidential contenders swearing corporate PAC money and taking on more progressive policies, it'll be harder to make the case that this faux-pragmatism is the direction the Democratic Party needs to go.

Are they actively trying to drive away the progressive wing?

The DNC accepting fossil fuel donations would make as much sense as the RNC accepting donations from Planned Parenthood.

The insinuation that the Democratic Party is anywhere even near as hostile to the interests of the fossil fuel industry as the Republican Party is towards Planned Parenthood is an unfounded one. Let’s not forget that Ken Salazar was Interior Secretary less than a decade ago.

I'm actually surprised that they ever banned donations from the industry. I didn't know that prior to seeing this.

What's even more frustrating about this is that it's probably more about party members being too lazy to get contributions from people than any ideological position. I mean, if I'm fund raising, it's so much easier to call up one rich oil exec for $1000 than finding 20 ordinary people who'll donate $50 each. There's certainly a corporate friendly ideological dimension, but there's an under appreciated human laziness element that's infuriating.

The DNC is the equivalent to someone doing porn to pay the rent. They are desperate for any money

Ellision would have been fired for sure if he had such terrible fundraising numbers as Perez. And they claimed Perez was such a great fundraiser. It's clear he was chosen to shut out progressives, not for any fundraising abilities. I really hope the DNC has to shut down, it's a terrible organization.

Or that Hillary promoted fracking around the world, which turns out to be as a dirty as coal.

Those 20 people won't put in a good word for you when it comes to calculating the value of your retirement bribesinecure years down the road. Sure, you can raise election funds from the public, but is the public going to pay you a seven-figure salary (plus many, many bennies, including getting to hang out with all the cool kids  rich jackwagons) after you're out of office?

Gross. I've been so pissed about the stupid fundraising mail I've gotten from the DNC, and now I have one more reason to hate Tom Perez.
