Do you fear widespread violence if President Donald Trump and/or Vice President Mike Pence is impeached by the House of Representatives and then a U.S. Senate trial (you need 67 senators, 2/3 vote) by a Democratic-controlled Congress in 2019?

A professor is concerned about potential violence when Trump leaves office.

His supporters are too lazy. They'll mostly sit at home and swear at their TVs/laptops.

I picture them announcing a huge protest in front of the White House.  25 protesters (and 10,000 counterprotesters) show up.

I've said this a couple of times, but not really just because of how few Trump supporters there tend to be concentrated in small areas, which is kind of necessary if you're going to organize a campaign of violence. In terms of sporadic violence, I think it's more likely, but not necessarily a huge worry. More likely just major tantrum-throwing.

Not only do I fear it will happen, but know it will happen, and will almost certainly result in a widespread increase in targeted violence towards minorities in particular. And as far as people thinking Trumpists are too lazy to do anything, are you already forgetting Charlottesville?

It will happen but it won't last or be particularly significant. I don't have much faith in them, but I'm fairly certain that they will move on at some point. Maybe they can find a new savior in Governor Kris Kobach.

We should be prepared for a spate of mass shootings as nutjobs try to root the "deep state" out of their local malls and schools. I just wonder whether we might see OKC-style bombings.

A bunch of pudgy out-of-shape Alt-Right-ers, fat middle-aged weekend warriors, and cranky old people driving their motorized scooters 0.5 MPH down the National Mall?

Nah, many of his supporters....

- Are too old. What are they going to do, violently protest in their rascal scooters?
- Are too geographically dispersed. You're not going to be able to centralize people living in rural areas throughout the country.
- Are too suburban. Your average suburban white male has a job, status etc and is not going to give up his job to protest for any extended period of time.

There may be a few incidents here and there but your average deplorable will probably just rant nonsense on Breitbart or whatever.

There would not be massive protests or violence if Trump were impeached.  Amongst his strongest supporters, there'd be a "BRING IT ON!!!" attitude.

If Trump were actually convicted by the Senate and removed from office, there would be such a national consensus to remove him that could only come from clear and convincing evidence of wrongdoing that was clear to the general public.  So, no, if he were removed, there would not be rioting as suggested in the title.

If there were at least 67 Senators that convicted (and removed) him, then no.
Because the only way that will happen, is that super-damning evidence was discovered by Mueller and/or the Dem-controlled House committee(s).
This means that most American citizens (yes, even a good chunk of Republicans) would accept this, and no "widespread violence" would be present.

Yes, we'll have civil war if Trump ever leaves office, even if it's just via the normal two term limit.

There would be sporadic isolated incidents just like there have been since Trump was elected

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=287218.0

Mostly by incompetents, but even an incompetent with a gun can kill.

Hopefully, Kobach loses by two votes.  That would mean the three Trump terrorists that got locked up in Kansas cost him the race.
