While I am not sure if that is the reason he was fired, my opinion of Tillerson does go up after this story.

It is like when Trump is the most pro-Israel candidate but doesn’t actually deal with antisemeticism back home. Nazis here only care about if they can oppress at home, anything outside is just irrelevant to them.
