She's wrong in the sense that what has changed far more than America's demographics is the flow of the fruits of America's labors.  Less goes to workers, more goes to executives and investors.  The ever-growing income inequality in America is the main reason as to why the America I grew up in no longer exists.

In addition, we now have waves of Muslim immigrants (of all races) that we did not have previously.  There is a legitimate question as to whether or not Islam is compatible with belief in enumerated individual liberties as set forth in the Bill of Rights and a form of government that is a secular republic with democratic features.  It can be argued that to be a Muslim and agree with those concepts is to honor Islam in the breach and not in the observance.  I certainly believe that Sharia Law is at odds with our system of Constitutional government, and this is an issue that was not a factor in the Ellis Island wave of immigrants.  I am not advocating a "Muslim Ban", but I am advocating that prospective immigrants be screened to see if they are amenable to OUR form of government.  I do not believe that a person who aspires to see a Caliphate established is not a fit candidate for entry into America for purposes of a path to citizenship, or even residence.

It doesn't scare me because I'm a minority, but why do you think non-whites can't commit racialized violence or force other groups to become second-class citizens, or won't attack American culture? Are non-whites somehow genetically indisposed to do moral wrongs?  How are whites doing in South Africa, today? Yes, they'll speak English, but everything else is up to question. The Fourth of July can be attacked as a racist dead white man's holiday, no longer worth celebrating. Political parties can be made hostile to Christianity, or even try to subvert it, with the help of non-white voters. Heck, cities can be renamed. I have to disagree with you here. While I certainly believe that immigrants to this country should, when obtaining citizenship, express their faith in this country and its institutions, I also think that the fears about Muslims not being in adherence to American values are unfounded. Yes, there are Islamic extremists, and yes, people who truly do wish harm upon Americans and upon our democracy should not be permitted to come here. But people who work hard, obey the law, live in peace with their neighbors, and build a life for themselves should not be harassed or discriminated against on account of their religious beliefs. The Constitution specifically bans testing people based on their religion to hold public office, and freedom of religion is one of the primary guarantees of the First Amendment. If Muslims are targeted, then other religious minorities will be as well. That would be anti-ethical to our values, and would be a reversion to some of the most horrendous abuses of our past.

Tell that to the families of people killed by undocumented immigrants who were criminals. Tell that to the family of the 1993 Long Island Rail Road massacre.

I disagree with Ingraham's stupid remarks, but there is a reason why there is cultural conflict in America right now.
