Power and prestige of directing a whole government department? It’s quite an ego boost.

Beyond that, one of them set up his son with a project, and they also wanted to privatize services and choose which services private vendors get chosen for, so the grifting angle is obvious.

The American people hates it's vets, that much is clear.  Yeah, some will thank a vet at the airport, but it almost never goes furthere than that.  The politicans are worse.  They'll drag us up on stage when it's time to campaign, but are nowhere to be seen when it's time to fight the bureaucracy of the VA.

If we gave a sh**t about vets we wouldn't throw them in jail for self medicating their PTSD.  If we gave a sh**t about vets we'd let them go to regular doctors and reimburse later, instead of the notoriously garbabe VA run hospitals.  If we gave a sh**t about vets we'd show it in real ways, not worthless "at-a-boy"s and pats on the back.


(and conservatives are worst about this.  At least many lefties are against war and a big military. (that doesn't give you an out to be sh**tty to vets though) Conservatives don't have that excuse.  They want a big military, they want war, but they don't want to clean up (or even think about) any of the millions of little messes they make of the lives of our young men and women.  Eat a bag of dicks, the lot of you.)
