Good news. But how is this gonna work? He said he's suspending his campaign. Does that mean he'll stay on the ballot or will a new candidate be selected?

We'll see. VA-05 should've been safe, but the Republicans went ahead and replaced Garrett with a Bigfoot erotica enthusiast. If they find a good candidate to run in his place, they're fine, but if they mess up, I could still see a flip. Upstate New York is unpredictable.

Agree. But it's still the MOST republican and Trumpish district in NY. Under minimally normal situation republicans must hold it.

The state GOP and Conservative Parties will throw him into random city council races in New Paltz, I guess.

No. It’s just full of Republicans. The 24th and 25th are drawn very neatly, and the 26th, though ugly, is drawn to lump all of the working class suburbs of Buffalo in with Buffalo proper and Niagara Falls. Erie County has enough people for more than one district, so its suburbs have to be cut up somewhere.

If you look at Senate and Gubernatorial results, this part of Western New York is the most Republican part of the state.
