Thats not how grade calculation works.....

The joke was that Republicans care about nothing besides the racially tinged "issues." But there needed to be a category for "black people kneeling" and especially "triggering the libs."

Failure, he is looked upon like a Wallstreeter that the Occupy Wallstreet hinted Dems to stay away from. As well as the Kremelin scandal which will lead to Dems resurgence. Dems didnt need that much in the way of resurgence coming off the heels of Obama coalition

Obama was better than Trump on that issue but he still was terrible on it and that is the reason Trump won in the first place. If Obama was even as good as Dubya on that issue , Trump never becomes President.

I recall an NYT article I posted on Atlas some months ago, and it kind of touched on the race issue in a way that I think explains the big picture of why race relations took a dive with Obama. I'll just say ahead of time that me and you probably won't agree on this:

You see, it seems white people declared the race issue is "over" and "fixed" once the Civil Rights Act/VRA was passed, and segregation was ended, and they just hushed up about it. Any talk about clear injustices black people face all the time is "divisive," and merely bringing it up, to them, is inappropriate.

My point here is that a great many white people seem to think that merely mentioning issues of race and problems black people face is "divisive," and probably because it makes them uncomfortable. Obviously a lot of people prone to casual racism don't actually think they are racist - they are just completely blind to their own words and actions, and literally don't make these connections, but also refuse to even acknowledge they may be looking at this issue wrong. It's almost like their subconsciously sense the problem, but are so deeply stubborn and uncomfortable that their mind forces them to reject the idea and instead actually blame the messenger.

If you mean Obama's record on race relations was terrible because the end result of his tenure was racial division, without considering why that was, then OK, fine, sure. But I look at why this is, and it seems like white people are blaming Obama for their own inability to grasp society's problems and their weirdly stubborn desire to shield their ears from any such talk.

The verdict for the George Zimmerman case was correct because there was no way you could have proven without a reasonable doubt he was the one who started the fight and unless you could have done that the only verdict you could have gotten was Not Guilty. Not Guilty does not mean Innocent it just means the prosecution didn't prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt and the prosecution didnt. The DA, in that case, made a huge mistake when he charged Zimmerman with 2nd degree Murder instead of Manslaughter which could have been proven without a reasonable doubt as in that case you could convict him even if you couldn't prove he started the fight as if he followed police orders to not pursue the altercation never happens. On the other hand, since they charged him with 2nd-degree Murder they would have had to prove that he started the fight to get the conviction and there was really no way to prove that and that is why he was acquitted.

On Obama fault, the problem didnt not start with the Trayvon Martin Situation it started with the Michael Brown one. He reacted to it by callng out cops even when they weren't indicted for it and then heavily implying police departments were racist. What Obama should have done is call the situation unfortunate for both sides but lets not demonize the cops because it is not their fault this is happening its that fault of the terrible laws politicians have passed . His response should have been that we should go back to the time where we do give the judges more power over sentencing instead of having politicians decide it for them.

Now Obama record on race relations is still better than Trump's but it arguably is the worst of any preceding President since Nixon .

God forbid an African American president acknowledge the plight of African Americans in America and elevate them and their issues for a change.

Meanwhile, Trump raises white nationalists whose calling in life is to literally divide the races, and that's B+ on race relations. I don't even know what to say.

Neighborhoods and police relations got much worse.
Maybe this is my bias, but I don't see how race relations are any better than under Obama. Hate crimes against nonwhites are up since Trump won, and police shootings as far as I know haven't changed much.

That's not to say race relations were great under Obama either. For factors both in and outside of his control, race relations got worse. But if anything, Trump is worsening race relations by using nonwhites as a foil to rally his base, just like he does with his political opponents.

And if you still don't believe me, why has Trump called black football players "SOBs", Lebron James "dumb", and said that Obama was an illegal immigrant, while saying Neo-Nazis "very fine people"?

On the same scale on which I would give Bush and Obama Fs, Trump's grade would be: in a straitjacket being carried away from the burning school by SWAT.

All he has done is tear the nation apart. I don’t understand these high ratings on this thread for Afghanistan, he is just going with policy done by Obama.

Domestic Policy- F-

Economy: F-. If your a fan of speculative bubbles you'll probably like it. I am not.
Trade: D. He pulled out of TPP and selectively slaps tariffs but has otherwise maintained neoliberal trade policies.
Crime: F-. The long crime decline has finally begun reversing itself while a massive prison population carries on growing.
Immigration: F- (Not much need be said)
Race Relations: F- (Not much need be said)
Environment: F-. Drumpf is even more rabidly supportive of the fossil fuel industry than oilman Dubya.
Healthcare: F-

Foreign Policy- F-

Afghanistan: F-. Year seventeen and no end in sight.
Syria: F-. He has done nothing to withdraw from this conflict.
Cuba: C. He's made no progress but hasn't really made the situation worse.
China: F-. Has failed at competing with them to put it mildly.
Iran: F-. Drumpf has returned to Bush-era policy on Iran.
North Korea: This one is a roller coaster.
Russia: F. Confused, indecisive, and switches his attitude at the drop of a hat.
