Mr. Speaker,

This legislation appears reasonable and fair, with rates set at only that which is necessary to sustain the functions of our government and no more. It is essential that we take action now to address our debt and deficits, and this legislation would succeed in achieving those ends.

I yield.

Mr. Speaker,

As stated by the Gentleman from Kentucky, this tariff is at rates necessary only for the sustaining of our government, and eliminating our national debt.  As such, I urge my fellow Deputies and Patriots to vote in favor of this legislation.

I yield.

Mr. Speaker,

Our national debt is enormous, and we need to take immediate action to reduce this debt as fast as possible. This is why I support this tariff act, which will be an efficient way to start decreasing the debt while not putting an undue burden on our taxpayers or allies. I ask of every member of the Republican faction to support this bill.

I yield.

Mr. Speaker,

This is a commonsense act that helps lay the foundation for the economic security of these United States. I am pleased to see broad agreement on this issue, and hope its passage will help in the drive to alleviate our debts

I yield.

Mr. Speaker,

This act is a step toward making our nation prosperous. Any man that opposes this act does not want our country to succeed.

I yield.

Mr. Speaker,

Echoing the sentiments of the other delegates, I rise in support of this act. This will ensure that the instruments of state and defense will function properly, and will finally begin to address the long standing issue of our nation's debts.

I yield.

Debate having been closed, the Speaker called for a vote:

National Assembly Vote:

Moving into the final vote, the result was 58 in favor, 5 against.

Senate and President:

After a brief debate in the Senate the National Military Act of 1790 passed with 24 votes in favor and two against, and was promptly signed into law by President Hancock.
