Yeah, no. Espy winning the runoff is far more likely than Hyde-Smith winning by 19.

I think this is the first non-internal poll we’ve had of the race.

But yeah, Mississippi is the least elastic state in the entire country, the only way Espy would win would be if McDaniel somehow finished ahead of Hyde-Smith, which looks less and less likely as we get closer to Election Day.

It's pretty surprising just how badly McDaniel has been doing in these polls. Not that I expected him to win or anything, but his performance has just been abysmal. He has a 16-49 favorability in this poll, yikes. Even Roy Moore was far more popular, lol. You'd think he was the pedophile and Moore was merely the neo-confederate. To top it off, Espy leads him by 15 (!) points in a hypothetical runoff.

But yeah, looks like McDaniel is screwed, which means Espy is also screwed.

This is why "inelastic" is an incredibly dumb and overused term.

Actually, upon further examination, this is a junk poll. A pile of steaming smelly junk. One of the junkiest pieces of junk that I've ever laid eyes upon. Look at the race and age demographics. Apparently all the blacks and young to middle aged people died in Mississippi, and the only people who will be voting are white senior citizens.

Their sample in MS-02, which is ~64% black, is only 20% black. Good god.

You got the numbers wrong. These are the actual results:

Jungle:

Hyde-Smith (R) 41
Espy (D)           27
McDaniel (R)     15

Runoff:

Hyde-Smith (R) 48
Espy (D)           34

Espy (D)           41
McDaniel (R)     26

I dunno, this doesn't strike me as a quality poll anyways.

That was the point. If MS was as inelastic as people are making it out to be, a) Hood wouldn’t be AG now and b) McDaniel wouldn’t be trailing Espy in polling.

Yeah no. I highly doubt Epsy will win, but it certainly won't be this lopsided.

Junk poll, obviously. No surprise as to who added it.
