In the end, I probably would have, but it would have taken a lot of questioning.

Hah, Republicans.

I would have voted for her most enthusiastically, particularly knowing her views on prostitution.

Of course not. The equivalent would be President Bush nominating an NRA lawyer who wrote about constitutional right to possess nuclear weapons. Ginsburg was easily the most extreme nominee ever placed before the court and the fact that just a few years after Bork, this pyscho gets confirmed by a 90 vote margin shows alot about the GOP's stupidity on these nominations.

She's clearly a very intelligent woman (although I disagree with her), but simply too extreme. I would be willing to tolerate a relatively moderate liberal like Souter, but Ginsburg is an extremist.

I would go with yes. Clearly brilliant, and whilst I disagree with her interpretations of many things, I don't think you can fail my extremity test by defending civil rights over vigourously.

While I'm sure Opebo agrees...

Anyways, what's so extremist? Where is she considerably to the left of Thurgood Marshall and what's his name...William O Douglas maybe...hope I'm thinking of the right name...?

The whole prostitution and federal funding of abortions are constitutionally protected thing...  And how we should remove any reference to "he," "man," etc in the Constitution and replace it with "he/she," "man/woman" etc

Prostitution, abortion, pretty much anything tangenitally connected to her blanket federal right to privacy belief counts here.

Absolutely not. She actively campaigned for a SCUS appointment for years in the senate judiciary committee before that moron Orrin Hatch recommended her to Clinton.

I would have placed an indefinite hold on her nomination so that she wouldn't even reach the judiciary committee, let alone a floor vote.

But I would not have filibustered her, because filibustering nominees is unconsitutional*

*"Consitutional' in the sense of, "the collective habits of an institution arising from tradition", in this case, the notion that unqualified presidential nominees either (1) never reach committee (2) never see the light of day out of committee (3) banished on the Senate floor. In the case of R B Ginsberg, I would have actively supported all three courses.
