In 1956: Hoover and Truman were the only 2 former presidents still alive. Ike dies of a heart attack and the RNC become splitted between the liberal and conservative factions.. Hoover was nominated as a compromise candidate.. Meanwhile Truman is re-nominated as the democratic presidential candidate

Truman would and it would not even be close.

Also Hoover would be considered way too old.

Hoover would win in a landslide during a Republican year.

Let's leave aside the other disadvantages of Hoover (summarized in terms like "Hoovervilles" and "Hoover cart" https://digital.lib.ecu.edu/2014)  The man was 82 years old in 1956!  Ike isn't running again because of his health--and to allay voter concerns about presidential health, the GOP chooses an 82 year old?!

1956 was not a "Republican year" except on the presidential level.  The Democrats kept control of both houses of Congress.  The notion that people voted for Ike, therefore they would vote for any other Republican presidential candidate is dubious enough even if applied to, say, Nixon.  (One reason Republican leaders urged Ike to run again was that polls showed Stevenson beating Nixon.)  It is absurd when applied to someone with Hoover's baggage--even granted that Truman would be the weakest possible Democratic candidate to run against him (and the least likely for the Democrats to nominate).

Hoover would do as well as Jeb did in 2016.

1952 and 1956 would have been democrat years if Eisenhower was not the nominee and even with Eisenhower the democrats were still the majority party

This. I also think had anyone else been the nominee we would have had two terms of President Stevenson.
