A more accurate title for this:

http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051003/NEWS24/510030335

This means Taft is more unpopular than Nixon at the height of Watergate, Truman during the worst part of the Korean War, and Gray Davis at any point! That's one hell of an accomplishment.

I told y'all that soon the htmldon wing of the GOP would be reached and Taft would stay steady. Looks like that block is beginning to crack a bit though. Time to go for 10%.

The people who approve of him are htmldon clones.

Actually, he gets pretty mad when some of us bring up Taft. He's not a fan at all.

Perhaps it doesn't occur to you people that I might be angry at people who disgrace the name of the Party of Lincoln.   I think Taft falls into that category at this point.  I will be very happy upon his replacement by a qualified Republican official who will hopefully not pardon his sorry ass.

Bob Taft for President 2008

So I see that the Htmldon layer of the GOP has finally been broken.  Next is the Walter Mitty layer.

Uh, unless you're saying that the entire population of Republicans in Ohio is just 15%, and the remaining 85% are all Democrats, then your comment makes no sense at all.

Oh you mean back when he was doing a moderately okay job, and his opponent was ten times more of a liberal elitist than John Kerry?

Jake would be still supporting santorum if he had an approval rating of 15%. Jake thinks he lives in a very moderate county.

Walter, can you actually provide a solid defense of the guy and explain why he's doing a good job? Pissing off 85% of the population of a state is no accident.

it isnt my job to defend taft.  personally, i dont even think he has done a good job.

BUT, give it a rest.  the man is about as politically dead as one can get.  what point does it serve to keep kicking a dead horse?

They're trying to kick a dead elephant in hopes that it will rub off on other GOP candidates.  Not gonna happen.

He isn't worth wasting a bullet on.

I am reminded of an Arizona tradition that if you run over a rattlesnake on the road, and can safely do so, you back up, and run over it again to make sure its dead.

Because he is still our governor until January 2007.  I don't really care for any attempts to make his unpopularity rub off on to his potential GOP successors.  I would just like to see somebody run this state with some semblance of competence.  He should just do the honorable thing and resign, before he sets fire to Cleveland as some kind of urban clearance scheme, or hands over control of the Budget to a kindergartener.

At least the kindergartener would take time to look at the budget, even if he ends up eating it.
