As we get further away from the legislative reset in June 2016, the more Atlasian law has diverged from real life law. Thus it becomes more and more important, especially so that newbies can find out what is different and be able to get their bearings, that the statute pages on the wiki be updated and be kept up to date. Along with the main page, the Constitution, and the Election Index, the statute pages are the four most important pages on the wiki.

And these four were always kept up to date pre-reset. Even in the depths of the 2015 deluge, just days before Sh@$T hit the fan, none other than Attorney General Al, updated the statute pages on the wiki. Probably why he tried to destroy me a month later... Also the thread name for that was taken from a similar one in 2010.

Several things are different now. For one thing the Attorney General is no longer tasked with this. Second of all, we have a cabinet level position dedicated to updating the wiki. Lastly, updating it has never been easier since virtually all bills passed since March 2017 have the links for both the Senate and House debates contained within the text of the bill itself. These were advantages that the pre-reset updaters like Bgwah, Nix, Al and Scott (among many others) never had.

And yet the statute pages are almost a year out of date, during which we have had some of the most productive Congressional Sessions since the reset. And the longer this is delayed the harder it is going to get. Now I am not trying to point fingers at anyone in particular. When Transit took over the roll of Archivist, we are already six months behind and he has done good work with his by request updates.

That being said we cannot continue to let the statute pages, Amendments (which have been partially updated by LT), and the Election Index (Doesn't even have April in it, yet April has a page) fall by the wayside. If we do, it will in short order become necessary to engage in yet another legislative reset, lest the game become impenetrable to new members in terms of understanding the state of law, especially since there are great differences on big issues like Healthcare and the tax code, to a multitude of small things (the bazillion regulations Mr. R is axing).

Therefore as part of the transition, I am considering all options for how to approach the task of updating and keeping the wiki updated.

I also ask that all those with wiki access who are available/willing to assist in catching up to PM myself and DFW. One thing I will say is that despite years of working on the wiki, I am by far not an expert at it and the last thing I want to do is to turn an outdated section into an unreadable mess. So as opposed to a stampede of people doing their own thing, I would rather have a controlled effort, that is dedicated to quality control as much as it is quantity of updates. This will be separate from the application process in the transition office thread and these will not be positions that exist beyond the task at hand.

Good thing I'm not the only one with this problem. Can you tell me, how is Atlasia different with its criminal justice policies? I saw private prisons had been abolished but how far has criminal justice reform gone, so I know how to work with this issue.

I've been slowly chipping away at this (along with the South, though their statute is much simpler), though I apologize I haven't been able to get much done quicker (I simply haven't had the time until about two weeks ago).

That is why I am exploring the idea of creating a task force to eliminate the backlog. Like I said you inherited the office when it was already six months in the hole statute wise.

I technically have the power to appoint deputies, so that's always an option.

Yes, deputies are in the original executive order:

The White House is now accepting applications for the position of National Archivist.

lol, its listed as priority number 1. Ironically, this is actually on the wiki under Executive Orders.

Also Leave it to Truman to "hide" his White House by putting it in plain site on the AFE board where my initial searches would not find it.

Everything Fremont-related is pretty much up to date.  Truman's written great summaries for our Parliament elections and all our laws are on the Wiki.

Something worth considering IMO is changing the way federal laws are categorized.  It's much easier to browse laws by subject instead of by sessions of the legislature, which is what Fremont does with our Code of Laws.

Statute and Constitution pages are still lagging.
