I don't think you can divide them in such a clear fashion; I would say national interest first, but the 2nd option is often intertwined. Self-interest ultimately flows from the national interest as well.

So, you continue to agree with them? If you are against what they oppose, then you also oppose it.

Collective.  I'll admit I have a bit of a class warfare bug and I think religion is too overreaching.

National interest for the most part, for example, many of my social/legal views are based on what I perceive as betterment for society or security in the world. My economic views tend to bounce between collective and personal interests though.

^^^^

Although my Economic views bounce between collective and National interests.  Of course both are also driven slightly by personal interest.

I have never voted for a straight party ticket in my life, although yes I have ocassionally voted for Republicans.  I have also voted for Libertarians, Socialists, Democrats, Greens, and unaffiliated candidates.  Anyway, I am one of the most verbose posters I know and I'm quite certain I have never described my voting proclivities in a three-word sentence, especially one as inaccurate as that.  I have stated before that in approximately 9% of all the times I have voted for President, Governor, Senator, and Representative, I have voted for the Republican candidate.  I have also stated that in January of 2004 I changed my registration from CA-DTS to CA-R, and that thereafter I voted in the republican primary, and when I did vote in that primary I voted precisely out of my interests.  Not only in choosing candidates but also in the Yes/No questions.

and this wouldn't be the first time you have assigned to me views which I don't have, or have so grossly oversimplified my views that what you say ends up being misleading, if not inaccurate.

you have no idea what my own interests are, and likely you are not really in touch with the interests of the overwhelming majority of the posters on this forum, moreover, you make no attempt to try to understand them.  I'll even go as far as to say that you don't even know what your own self-interests are.

You're a fool.  Piss off.

Now now, I can understand why you would be upset with me - I suppose you aren't always a Republican.  I also hope you are aware that I overstated your Republicanism to illustrate a point about interests that I believe to be important and valid.

Political interests are very easy to discover - just check the person's method of acquiring their necessary income.  Do they work or do they own?  It is certainly true that I can't know for certain how any of the posters here do this, including you, but I feel safe in assuming that nearly all of them are workers, not owners.

You can be a pretty wealthy worker and a pretty poor 'owner.'
