depends on perspective.  I say no, but I'm coming from a certain perspective.  Others coming from an equally valid economic position would have a different answer....but that's boring.

of course not you raving socialists!

<now, somebody from the other side can insult me, from there we can argue about who and what is socialist, maybe a small back and forth over affirmative action...of course the Jews will be brought in, 10 days and 5 pages later the last post will jfern telling us how it's Obama's fault that interest rates are still low>

<as if the jfern haters society would ever let him have the last word on anything>

Well yeah, it is. There are some wings finally speaking out about this, but they are still very mute.

When it comes to the defense budget, that's a good thing.

When it comes to building a basic safety net that pretty much every other first-world country has or even working on infrastructure, not so much.

They're pretty liberal in their military industrial complex spending.

You could argue they are in a sense that they're more likely to preserve/protect the safety net rather than dismantle it like the GOP has been for the last 38 years.

In terms of international mainstream leftist parties, yeah -- something I expect to only get more true if we become the party of the suburbs

Yep, the lines they should cross in 1964. None of this makes any sense, obviously the ancestral lineage of the progressives cannot possibly run through a bunch of icky Southern racists.

Omg, someone else mentioned the Commodities Futures Modernization Act besides me, its only been what, like 10 years since I first started talking about it.

Dont' forget to add in the really exciting parts where it was past in the dead of night when no one was paying attention.
