The law should apply equally to everyone. For the same reasons that police brutality and the criminal justice system require reform, so too does affirmative action. That doesn’t mean they are remotely comparable injustices however.

Diversity is not an American tenet. It isn't a value of our country, and it had nothing significant to do with the founding of our country. It isn't necessarily something to celebrate. Not that it's a bad thing, but it often times leads to unnecessary racial tension & conflict.

Progressives idolize "diversity" as some glorious goal to strive for; what this does is reduce the sum total of a person to his/her skin color, gender, and/or religion. In a sense it objectifies people, treating them not as a human with a unique personality and character but rather as a token that is worth more or less based on its physical attributes.

Your second paragraph is a good argument against intersectional theory (and I agree with the broad strokes), but that’s not really the same thing as diversity itself and so it still doesn’t quite defend Grossman’s comments. There’s a distinction between the “diversity for its own sake” campus progressivism and American pluralism, which is its own type of diversity.
