The Venetian-Ottoman Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.

1) In return for the Empire's promised grain shipments, Venice will dispatch economic advisors to the Porte, enabling the Ottoman economy to be brought up to European standards.

2) In return for Ottoman assistance in defeating the Tripoli rebellion, Venice will permit free use of its ports in the Mediterranean to Ottoman traders.

3) Neither country will intervene in the internal affairs of the other.

4) Full embassies are to be opened in both nations, establishing formal ties

5) Upon the defeat of the Rebellion, Venice will maintain control of its territories, but establish the Province of Tripoli as an autonomous region within the Republic. Pending the terms offered by Austria, their old territory in North Africa will be recognised as Ottoman land.

Venice has sought only peace with those who wish it, yet now we find ourselves at war with those who would seek to commit illegal acts of piracy.

These rebels will be destroyed in time, as with our allies, the Ottoman Empire, we crush this little rebellion and its so-called Sultan.

To those in North Africa who have been the victims of these lawless vagabonds, we offer the chance for you to fight back. Join the North African Corps of Militia, and be rewarded with land, pensions, and positions of influence within the Autonomous Province of Tripoli.

Religious freedom will remain intact, as we have not come here to conquer.

To those who wish to fight us, we warn you: continue to test us, and you will see a war the likes of which you cannot contemplate.

Piedmontese-Venetian Treaty of Alliance

1) Sardinia and Venice will open embassies in each other's nations

2) Both nations will lower tariffs on trade.

3) Both nations agree to come to each other's defence in the event that one is the victim of foreign aggression.

Venice once again urges both Austria and Prussia to act with restraint reagrding the situation in Bavaria. The last thing Europe needs is another major war while the recover continues from the wars earlier in the century.

Venice will take no side in this conflict, as the belligerence of both sides has shown that neither is interested in talking with the other. Nevertheless, we will see to our nation's defence.

All Venetian soldiers currently in Venice and its European territories are ordered to muster at their barracks and prepare for war, should conflict reach our borders. All Venetian sailors are likewise ordered to do the same and commence patrol duties in our waters.

Venice may be aligned with Sardinia-Piedmont, but we, like all other powers, view the summary execution of the former royal family and the rise in radicalism with dismay. All people are entitled to trial, and the former King and Queen are no different than anyone else in this world.

Should Sardinia-Piedmont seek to export this brand of radical, rather than reformist republicanism, Venice will have no choice but to oppose it. We may be friends with this nation, but friends need to tell hard truths to each other, feelings be damned.

The Republic of Venice is known for its attempts to keep the peace under Loredan, and we will live up to the legacy he left behind. The last war cost millions of lives, not including the conomic cost, of which some nations still have not recovered.

Venice hereby offers itself as a mediator for negotiations between the major powers and invites all the warring nations to send representatives to Venice for a conference.

We unequivocally condemn the actions of Sardinia-Piedmont. Their murder of the Pope and illegal war against Naples has shown them for what they are: bloodthirsty radicals who wish for nothing but murder and destruction.

A proclomation regarding Tripoli

With the war in North Africa over, it is time to move on.

To this end, we hereby create the Governorate of Tripoli as an autonomous region within Venice's borders. The first governor will be the current commander of the Venetian forces in North Africa. Standing orders are to establish a Regional Assembly and create a stable government.

Freedom of the local populace to worship who they want is to be protected at all costs. Finally, the leaders of the rebellion are to be handed over to the Ottoman Empire to receive their punishments. The remainder will serve prison sentences.

We hope this is agreeable to the Porte.

A Proclamation from the Republic of Venice

We do not seek to bring war upon our homeland, but instead hope to peacefully establish our country. We ask Austrian troops to leave Venetian soil so that we may determine our own future, and define our own lives. We only ask to establish the country the great Francesco Loredan had in mind.

With this in mind, we invite a delegation of Conservative diplomats to a summit to define how our country will move forward. We would be prepared to accept King Louis of France as mediator for the negotiations.

Be aware; we do not seek war, but will not shrink from defending ourselves.
