Can he? I was under the assumption this would be run like tyrion's trial since that's the only example we have of the westerosi justice system, though I don't mind him having witnesses. when you post the thread for the trial it'd be great if you could explain the general procedure you want us to follow in the OP

Tyrion was given the chance to write a list of witnesses to call, I just couldn't think of any.

And yes welcome cranogmen Smiley

Just finished House Ryswell, Dereich do you have a court? I'm not seeing one here, just a house though you have mentioned an Allard Rivers in your orders.

Nevermind I found it. End of turn is posted, please let me know if I've missed anything, it was a bit of a mammoth update. Once I have House Reed's house in I will post them with the new turn, until then I'm at work on the trial topic and generating new details for Turn 2.

Also, some players are getting secret confirmations of orders and such, so be on the lookout for them if you were playing anything close to the vest or using intrigue.

Considering the urgency and timing of the trial, I saw that as happening first as there were no explicit plans for timings of the weddings, and it requires all parties to be at the Dreadfort per the orders. That's a fair deal of running back and forth

A lord certainly has certain rights and privileges; many of the things that occur in or around the WOTFK are not normal protocol, so the series is not always the best to look to guidance. Tyrion was himself not a lord, was accused of the highest possible crime, and even then it was likely Cersei who had him confined. Even then Tyrion was not in the black cells like Edward was.

Lady Barbrey Snow of House Bolton, is henceforth betrothed and engaged to be married to Vickard of House Dustin. The ceremony and a feast held in their honor shall occur at The Dreadfort in three month's time, one week after the wedding of Lady Arsa Stark and my son, Jon of House Bolton.  I cordially request the attendance of all Northern Lords.  Furthermore, I humbly ask that the King of The North – in the interest of strengthening familial ties between his loyal vassals and offering The North yet another chance to bask in the hope and joy that come with seeing young love come to fruition – grant my daughter Barbrey a decree of legitimization.

I think this is where my confusion came in; due to everyone being at Winterfell for the trial, they certainly can't be at the Dreadfort, and the turn is already over. They could very well be wed at Winterfell, but the arrangements for the trial were made for the timespan within these 3 months. As it stands Arsa Stark and Jon Bolton would be wed a week before the end of turn, but this trial has complicated matters. As the trial is already in motion, it isn't possible for everyone to be at the Dreadfort for the wedding.

Ah thats my bad then I forgot the date. I'll amend my post when I get home, who all ended up attending?

All the Lords are invited (sans Manderly o/c because he's under arrest, I said so in the announcement).  Do people need to actually announce attendance?  I mean, given guest right, that seems like it might be a little bit of an excessive requirement, but your call.

Announcing attendance is pretty important; mayhaps not all of a house would attend, which would be important ala "Always a Stark in Winterfell". What's more, certain characters may not find travel as easy, or some intrigue event could happen at a wedding, so who is there would certainly be important.

Been tweaking a newer version of the map; as players make new outposts and villages and such, the map will need to change. Castles may even be destroyed(unlikely) but it's good to have a living map. I fixed the locations of some things, as I was wrong about where Ramsgate was...

I don't know what else to say except for that they weren't scheduled to. They were ordered to happen at a date, and the trial precludes them. This should have been a concern earlier when the warrant was issued as it directly contradicts possible orders, and at this point no orders outside of the trial are being taken.

Yes I intended to be the marriage to occur during the second turn, in what I figure would be the fourth month after starting the game, and for turn two I'd personally invite each high lord individually as befits their status. I had assumed the trial would chronologically occur "during" the first turn and occur immediately following his arrest, as soon as the judges have gathered. I assumed the trial itself wouldn't take more than a couple of days? I'm ready to start the trial as soon as reasonable fwiw

Trial has started, ball is in the accusers court Smiley

I've already started work on the second turn for those who the trial is unlikely to affect, so that as soon as the trial ends I can post it as players at probably itching to answer current qualms and receive some new ones from the Wheel of Fate.

You'll also need some court members, and even if you max out each two sons with points you'd still have some points left over.

Good details, though that seems a bit large and in your face for an honor guard.

Time is ticking for the accusers; hate to push justice but the next turn is resting on the trial Smiley

That's terrible man; don't worry about it, I think everyone would agree with X carrying on the trial in the short term? We really need to get moving on it before things stall, I'm consider in starting the turn with it in progress so people don't lose interest.

Or rather BK is a judge while you take the place as the inquisitor.

No, that has yet to be started. I should be able to get to it soon even though my computer exploded, yikes! (Figuratively,  having power supply issues)

The trial at current state will carry over into the second turn. I planned on having a mid turn update anyways. Thank you for the patience, did King Louis ever finish their house?

I'd be interested in jumping in as House Mormont

House Mormont

Lord Harald Mormont [0/3/3]: Age 61. Lord of Bear Island.

House Mormont has endured. Through harsh winter, countless ironborn raids, and more political strife than Harald cared to remember, the Lords of Bear Island have kept their grasp on this half-frozen hunk of land in the Bay of Ice. In the twilight of his reign, Harald’s skills are not quite what they used to be. In recent years, particularly after the death of his wife (of natural causes) three years ago, he seems to have lost all patience for some of the more delicate affairs of state. But the maester assures him he still has a fair few years left, and he can certainly still lift a sword — though there’s been little need in recent years.

Peace is a blessing, in theory, though the endless affairs of management are occasionally grating.  Harald’s priorities now lie in ensuring that his heir is capable of taking his place. Though his tenure was marked by no great conquests, in a land as perilous as the North, he is proud to leave Bear Island as prosperous and free as it was when he first took the throne. And, given those perils, he would not be surprised if events conspired to draw him back into battle one more time.

Erikar “Erik” Mormont [2/3/5]: Age 35. The only son of Lord Harald, Erik is a strong fighter and seen as a worthy heir to Bear Island. He is presently unmarried.

Hilde Mormont [0/5/2]: Age 31. The capable eldest daughter of Lord Harald, Hilde has formally taken on many of the administrative roles of the household following the death of her mother — and many in the court say she has been running the island for decades. She is married to a local nobleman of lower status, a vassal of House Mormont.

Bryn Mormont [5/0/5]: Age 25. The younger daughter of Lord Harald, Bryn is a true heir to House Mormont’s tradition of warrior-women. She is unmarried.

Ivar Mormont [0/0/1]: Age 10. Son of Hilde Mormont and her husband.

Beric Mormont [0/0/0]: Age 6. Son of Bryn Mormont and an unknown father.

Court
Maester Tordo [0/2/0]: Age 32. Maester of House Mormont.
Domarr [0/0/2]: Age 31. Master of horse and kennelmaster of House Mormont.
Captain Hother Brask [2/1/4]: Age 28. Second son of a minor local house. Commander of the Mormont fleet.
Lady Kara Pyre [0/3/2]: Age 24. Heir to a local house on the south coast of Bear Island, she commands the largest share of the island’s fishermen.

Edit: Noticed the Mormonts are mentioned in a turn post -- I think I've adjusted everything to match, apart from the name of the Lord and the use of "sons" vs "children." Made up a couple names for the court b/c couldn't find any Mormont vassals of any sort in literature -- there are references, but no specific names

I'd have suggested Karstark, but yes accepted as House Mormont, welcome aboard. I would say that the youngest member of your house would be a Snow if he has an unknown father unless he was legitimized by the King in the North.

As things have been settled...

Turn 2 will be posted this Sunday at the latest, but I expect to have plenty of time tomorrow night. House Reed and Mormont should be expecting missives from me if there are questions and the trial will be solved in a mid turn update. Thank you again for your patience as this has been a learning experience as to what to expect from this board in player to player drama and the lack of need of kindling to get it going ;}

Hope people enjoy things so far and of course feel free to ask any questions necessary.

The turn is nearly done, I am in the process of adding the new players. House Reed still needs to distribute their points correctly.

I will also ask that everyone send ALL orders sent after the turn ended if you want me to recount them. I would also ask that everyone post their family trees once more in the Turn 1 Topic. I have some in PMs, I have some scattered throughout the topic and they've become too hard to track down, part of that has been my poor record keeping due to working on three different PCs while I've been updating.

Also, many of you have situations the developed in the turn 2 end, this is why there are less crises to find in your turn 2 update. You can find them there, and I hope to compile them better in the turn 2 topic, but I thought it was worth going ahead and getting the thing up so people can begin their plotting and maneuvering. The second turn is now started. Please let me know if you have issues, this was a hasty update on a foreign machine...

I think weekly updates feel pretty good, but we always have to play it by ear. I plan on giving a mid-turn update in a few days if the trial is done by then.

Looking to end the half-turn Friday night, I think that gives everyone time to get orders in and time for me to update over the weekend. I'll be answering any lingering questions tonight; if everyone has orders in before then I'll end it early and start working on the update
