Huh Are they frauds or overachievers? They can't be both.

I'm just glad we're spared a Novichok semifinal. That truly would have been poisonous.

The banter would have been a 9 on the Richter scale though.

I guess you are saying that not to jinx it because Croatia was pretty underwhelming for a second straight match.

They obviously have plenty of quality players, they are just having real difficulty making it count against sides they really should have walked over. I wouldn’t count them out if they finally get organised.

Perhaps I'm overestimating Croatia, we'll see. Given how strange this world cup is, it makes sense to be careful with predictions - but, Croatia clearly has the upper hand in my opinion. Seems to me like England has had an easy ride so far. If they win it'll be a pleasant surprise but I doubt it.

Interesting observation: the two on-paper "favorites," France and Croatia, both had their best game (at least attack-wise) against Argentina.

No. Neymar's moved on. He wont take offence to diving jokes.

During his Russia World Cup campaign, Neymar spent a total of 14 minutes on the ground pretending to be injured.

The worst thing about the World Cup is people who don't follow soccer deciding it's the perfect time to make boring "LOL soccer is dumb everyone flops!" jokes Tongue

Nah I like jokes, but the "lol soccer is dumb" stuff is old. The problem is that only people who follow soccer realize this, everyone who makes them think they are the first people to come up with it Tongue

Anyway, this should be a fun one. Won't be able to watch it live so I will be internet-free until this evening to avoid spoilers.

Tactically I'm very interested in how Belgium are lining up. Chadli, Dembele, Witsel, Fellaini, and De Bruyne in the midfield could look interesting. Fox had them in that order right-to-left, but I can't imagine De Bruyne playing out wide (since their wide players, especially against a team like France, act really more like wingbacks and imo playing your main playmaker as a wingback in a game you might not have a majority of the ball in is dumb). I could see Dembele as a pseudo right-back, especially since France's left midfielder will be Matuidi, who himself is more of a central midfielder (like Dembele).

Also a test for the commentary teams if Ousmane Dembele comes on when Moussa Dembele is still on. "And Dembele with the ball, but Dembele takes it from him! Moussa Dembele that is...the one who took the ball...from Ousmane Dembele...each team with a Dembele, oh crap someone scored!"

(the same reason I won't be watching it live is a RL thing that is stressing me out and I make effort posts when I'm stressed Tongue)

I'm going to predict France to win. That's basically the worst possible outcome, so if I expect them to win, then anyone else will be a relief in comparison.

Should have kept my mouth shut. Uggh
