Did any one (Presidents, Governors, Seantors) visit your High School that you know of? I just found out yesterday that President Hoover did in 1957 and President Kennedy was going to, But died before. And George Voinovitch did in 1991 ( I think?) it was sometime in the early 90's.

Once, my Young Democrats Club brought in the Democratic candidates for town office.  That was pretty cool.

Barney Frank came to my high school once to talk about Martin Luther King.  A social action group at my very liberal school was giving him an award, and there was an assembly for teachers who wanted to bring their classes.

I think Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton both visited my high school at one point.  George and Laura Bush (on separate occasions) and John Kerry visited my old college MCC, and here at MSU the 1992 Bush-Clinton-Perot debates were held.

George Bush and Tony Blair visited my high school a couple months ago, but I didn't find out about it until it already happened.

Then-Education Secretary Rod Paige visited my high school in 2001 before I graduated.

He is the only federal figure that I can recall.

Besides him, there were various candidates for the House of Delegates and State Senate who debated in our auditorium in 1999.

I believe that Jack Layton has been to UVic, and Mike Harcourt spoke here today (although he left politics quite a while ago), and perhaps there have been others who I'm presently forgetting, but there haven't been that many.

since i've been at the school, we've had federal and state opposition leaders, treasurers and other cabinet members. Most prominent would be either Peter Costello (likely next PM) or Simon Crean. Crean is actually an old boy.

McKinley, I think.  Wilson, too, I believe.  And Eleanor Roosevelt.

Only three I can think of are Philadelphia DA Lynne Abraham, City Controller Jonathan Saidel, and State Rep. John Taylor who is also an alumnus.  I know many others have, but can't think of who.

My high school was only build four years ago. Not really enough time for anyone famous to stop by.

I also recall seeing the late Minnesota Sen. Paul Wellstone's name on a bronze plaque in the indoor gym among all the wrestling champions beginning in the 1960s.

High School:

We had a grad who got involved in...local politics down in MS, to his detriment.

And Rudy landed on our field in a helicopter sophomore year.  Pretty exciting.

College:

Has had a lot of alums in politics (including one President, and leaders (or titular leaders) of three other countries)--although we have only one Congressman now, pretty sad.

And a lot of political people have come through town over the years, I'm sure.

BTW, they are only political people peripherally, but Carl Bernstein and Ben Stein went to my high school.  Ben Stein spoke at my HS graduation.

The then Deputy Prime Minister [John Manley] came to my high school once. Of course, he was also our MP at the time.

Our school oval in a helipad about once a fortnight. Old Boy Lindsay Fox paid for half the new building, so he gets to use it whenever he wants Tongue

A President, spiffy. My probable Uni is just about as far from parrliament hill as a really good sniper could shoot from...but no Prime Ministers, yet. lots of backbenchers and some Ministers, though.
