We just had 12 pages of blue avatars applauding the NFL for curb stomping employees free speech rights, now the same blue avatars all have a problem with ABC doing the same. hmm.

I'm glad Roseanne got fired. ABC is a private company and can do whatever they want to.

Roseanne has been obviously mentally unstable for the last decade. It seems cruel to give a mentally ill person a job and then fire her when her mental illness manifests itself.

Let me be clear, Roseanne deserved to be fired, but this is unfair because millions of Americans were coming together and healing divisions because of this show.  They should have just replaced her with Rosie O'Donnell.

I more or less, as upset as I am, understand why she was fired. But why hasn't Kimmel been canned for wearing blackface? What about Joy Behar calling Christians mentally ill?

I'm really sick and tired of how the opposition operates. They act constantly in bad faith? Criticize someone for being a snowflake? You're a racist/bigot/whatever. Criticize a Joy Behar or a Joy Reid or Jimmy Kimmel? LOL YOU'RE A NAZI SNOWFLAKE. Literally this is what every debate I've had with every red avatar here/real life Democrat has become. An entire ideology based on hypocrisy is bound to fail, hence why you got chewed up and spit out last election day.

what a bizarre thing to say. What lib is out there on patrol defending Jimmy Kimmel (btw I thought it was Fallon who did blackface but I'm sure Kimmel did it too)? no non dumb ones are defending Joy Reid. Idk the Behar thing but The View is bad and I won't watch it on principle. It sounds like you're just trying to create an equivalent scenario that doesn't really exist.
There are multiple equivalent scenarios, but you don't know about them and that alone proves my point. Why weren't they attacked with same ferocity as Roseanne?
Dude, all of this happened in the span of 4 hours

They have the right to do so, nobody is doubting. Roseanne was deservedly fired. Why aren't others held to her standard?

If the people calling the shots at this private company want to hold her to a different standard, that's their right to. She should go find another network.

And Fox would be wise to gobble up Season 2 as soon as possible for that reason. Her core audience would still watch.

Unfortunately, I don't think Goodman will work with her again. Too toxic for him, and understandably so. RIP Rosie, we hardly knew ye!

What Roseanne said was pretty damn ignorant and she should’ve known better than to say nonsense like that, especially when she wields such a powerful platform. However, to cancel her extremely popular show (one that I really enjoy) over it seems a tad extreme.
probably relapsed into mania or something.not that it makes it ok,mental illness isn't a get out of jail free card

Getting really tired of people saying virtually all the good voices in our society (Roseanne, Trump, Kanye) are mentally ill.

The weird thing is that in 2005, all three of them were either leftists or Democrats. Why are so many people becoming right wing all of a sudden?

they're just contrarians.

I agree. Roseanne, while a controversial show during this season, at least gave viewers some insight on what your stereotypical Trump supporter might be like, especially since Trump supporters aren’t so common on the air. What Roseanne said about Garrett was done in very gross taste, but a show as influential as this, in my opinion, shouldn’t have to terminate so abruptly because one person couldn’t keep her feelings to herself.

Any actor who agrees to work with her should really be ashamed of themselves.  It isn't even the fact that she insulted someone.  She called them a monkey.  That is the racist language of the 1950s.

The whole Roseanne situation makes me livid for so many reasons and I hope it's all over. Though there is the possibility that she becomes a martyr and gets her own show on Fox, The Blaze, or Newsmax or something. I'll go by numbers just what pisses me of so much, I'll admit, I might strawman a little:
1. The Roseanne in the reboot of the show compared to the one from the 90's is a completely different character. 90's Roseanne (the character at least) never would have supported Trump.
2. It's completely cynical for a show to appeal to people just because it aligns with their political views. I watched King of the Hill and South Park and those weren't particularly friendly to liberals. So this mentality that a show can only appeal to Trump voters if the character is also a Trump supporter, is just a ludicrous mentality. I don't know if it speaks worse about the show's potential viewers or about the television industry.
3. I'm just sick of reboots. 90's nostalgia is in full swing but some things need to just be left alone.
4. What has Trump actually done for working-class people like the Conners for him to earn such devotion from them even as their lives seem pretty the same between his presidency and Obama's. I guess we got the answer today with that tweet though.
5. To see Roseanne Barr become embraced so much by the right is just pathetic. This woman who made a mockery of the national anthem back in the day and ran for President under the Peace and Freedom ticket is now being idolized. Is it just because she hates Obama and mainstream Democrats too? Is that all it takes for you to abandon your principles...if you even had any in the first place? It also plainly demonstrates that Roseanne is a contrarian opportunist that has no principles either.
6. The recent NFL policy just makes all of this worse. Roseanne Barr can literally mock the national anthem and now she is forgiven for that, but NFL players respectfully protesting for legitimate reasons are now going to be punished? Where is the consistency? Where are this country's priorities at?
7. Lastly, why does the right have to keep antagonizing an administration that no longer exists. You won! I keep hearing how Democrats have to get over losing but the right cannot let go of their vitriole for Obama and the Clintons.

I'll stop there and just express some surprise at ABC for acting astonished that Roseanne Barr would tweet such things and eventually put them in this situation. To quote another John Goodman character: "This is what happens (Larry)! Do you see what happens!?"

Why should John Goodman be ashamed when the season had already been completed by the time she made the comment? How the hell is he guilty of anything?

Despite being an average to below average singer, she still felt compelled to sing because she loves the country so much. Maybe if Kaepernick took the mic, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

And it makes a ton of sense for someone who loves peace to support Trump over Hillary.
